Recently rewatched the 1st ep. Unsurprisingly, the character of the slimy stalker building super doesn't age well.

Anyway, the tl;dr to take away from all this is a thing I have been repeating for ages, which is that extremism symbols function on a plausible-deniability basis. People who use them 100% rely on normal people going "I had no idea, so maybe he didn't either."

If you're nervous about masking regularly, but knowing even ONE other person is masked would make it easier? 📢 BE THAT PERSON 📢 Plan a response for anyone who asks why you mask. I use "because I don't like being sick" or "it's how I show up for my community" & both are always received positively. 🖤

hey remember that time you didn't know that thing that everyone else seemed to know and everyone was super kind to you as you fumbled towards awareness?

i hope you do.

Something happens in our nervous system when we show up for ourselves, again & again & again, even when it's hard, even when Trauma Brain is telling us we don't "deserve" to have our own back. Something shifts.

It's what healing, recovery literally, physically feels like.

With food stamps being cut off in November for millions of people, this is your periodic, friendly reminder that if you see someone shoplifting food or baby supplies NO YOU FUCKING DIDN'T SHUT THE FUCK UP.

Absolutely *nothing* wrong with starting to mask again. When we know better, we do better.
Every day is a new day, or whatever Anita Baker said.

like i've been saying for... almost six years??? shit. anyway- i won't stop masking even if the pandemic ends. it's objectively better for everyone and the only reason i didn't before was out of fear of soccer moms shitting their pants and calling the cops bc they thought i might rob them

#OtD 21 Oct 1929 anarchist, feminist, sci-fi and fantasy novelist Ursula K. Le Guin was born in Berkeley, California. We have made available some of her little-known works in our online store. Check them out here: shop.workingclasshistory.com/collections/...

Since visibility on this is a really big challenge I just wanna say that I still mask in public spaces. I wear a mask when around anyone who doesn’t practice similar precautions. If you do too, you are not alone and I appreciate you so much. If you don’t, you can *always* start again.

Capitalism often works to convince us that value is tied to exclusivity, that a thing isn’t special unless someone is keeping you from it.
How magnificent is a dandelion? A bit of moss on a broken sidewalk?
How inadequate is commerce as an instrument to measure the wonders of our world.

My needs for my eating environment are so specific, & always have been... long before I had any understanding or control.

It's no wonder I was close to catatonic thru my teen years. Even at a v capable 51 I struggle w proper self-care. Can't fathom how I survived undiagnosed so long.

This is a vivid example of “disability tax,” in which disabled folks are forced to endanger themselves physically, emotionally, or financially to participate in our expensive, inaccessible society.

One reason I advocate for wearing an n95 in public is reducing this “tax.”

Folks who do cool shit at great risk to themselves deserve to get away to get the chance to do it again! Expanding the reach of photos and videos that could lead to their eventual identification is not what solidarity looks like.

Please resist the urge to share videos of people taking risky direct action, no matter how cool it looks. Don’t be a part of sharing their potentially identifying features! Remember it. Write about it! Figure out how to use language to invoke the same feeling you got seeing it. Or draw it for us!

There are no rules, and anyone telling you there are is likely ignorant and/or trying to control you.

We build sustainable mvmt through following our desires, not guilt or self-identification as "activists".

Pleasure is extremely important, we need to live NOW, there is no "after the revolution"
