14.02.2026 21:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0"I've changed along with the characters in my films" An Interview with Rainer Werner Fassbinder This year marks the tenth anniversary of the death of German filmmaker Rainer Werner Fassbinder. Among the more than three-dozen films be made are: Fear Eats the Soul, The Marriage of Maria Braun, Berlin Alex-anderplatz, Effi Briest, Despair, and Querelle. His interview with Hella Schlumberger first appeared in the German edition of Playboy, April 1978. You're always criticizing the "provincialism" of Germany, but you're not in America yet. Why not? You can't draw any conclusions from the fact that I'm still here. Besides, I'm in Paris most of the time. I think Germany's well on its way to being a nation where people become more and more alike. And that means that individualists... Like you . You said it, not I ... that people who react a little differently to reality have to ask themselves whether they can still afford to have opinions. Whether it's worth it. And that's where castration of the imagination begins.
The Berlinale doesnβt need a Wenders right nowβ it needs a Fassbinder. We all need a reminder of why art shouldnβt just be βentertainmentβ or βcontentβ but instead must offer radical contestations of the given. Our world is unsustainable. Platitudes are useless.

In 1854, after watching the federal government deploy 2000 federal troops and spend $40,000 sending Anthony Burns back into slavery, Boston's Amos Adams Lawrence said βwe went to bed one night old-fashioned, conservative, Compromise Union Whigs and waked up stark mad Abolitionists.β

14.02.2026 19:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Put it this way. I don't believe Muskrat could make a livable colony in Antarctica (though I'd like to see him stuck in one he made).
And making a colony in Antarctica is FAR easier than on the Moon or Mars. There's already air, water, and protection from radiation, plus smaller temperature swings.
And it has to actually describe the relevant part of the image! You can't just put whatever words!

13.02.2026 16:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Another observation in favor of Bluesky. Men and women really can be βjust friendsβ here. That question was asked often over on that other place, and I never understood why so many said βnoβ. I think itβs a matter of maturity. Itβs normal and healthy to have both male and female friends.
