It’s more useful if you operate outside of any state’s jurisdiction and/or are certain that no state can/will prosecute you *and* that you are sufficiently well armed you don’t have to worry about other well-resourced criminal organizations kidnapping you and torturing you for your keys.

I don’t mean to be too flippant, but if you think evil authoritarians are taking power and wrecking society to funnel money upward OR a breakdown of government/total anarchy comes next, an easily traceable currency (which, by necessity, requires being on-the-grid) is incredibly stupid.
