This is the most breathtaking thing ever to see through a microscope. Congratulations to the winners 😍

That merely being β€œunder review” by a Nature family journal is offered as a quality proxy for a paper is a tragic illustration of the extent to which academia is addicted to brands and outsources evaluation

Our newest publication is out, and it is most certainly a colorful one!!

Using carefully controlled experiments in keratinocytes, we show that different light wavelengths affect cell metabolism and integrity in different manners.

These results are very interesting and especially useful to us mito-microscopy people. Well done Alejandro!
I was having a conversation just yesterday with my uncle about the lack of evidence on how different wavelenghts of light affects mitochondria on our skin.

Ubiquitin-mediated mitophagy regulates the inheritance of mitochondrial DNA mutations Mitochondrial synthesis of adenosine triphosphate is essential for eukaryotic life but is dependent on the cooperation of two genomes: nuclear and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). mtDNA mutates ~15 times as...

Science friends,
I want to invite you to my short lecture at the @bmc-lmu.bsky.social next Tuesday, 7th of October
The topic is how mitochondria (yes, the powerhouse of the cell πŸ”‹) keep our motor neurons healthy so we can keep moving our muscles until we're 100!

Yes, but then it means people with lower income can't travel at all. I'm just saying it's not surprising that young people don't travel much by train- DB in Germany is a horror and super expensive. Austria at least has great discounts for students and those under 18 y.o.

I mean- when you have RyanAir tickets going for 8€ from Vienna to Manchester... Speaking from a student's perspective- totally unaffordable.

I'm not surprised... The tickets for these sleeper trains are almost always just as expensive as flights, and there are no real regulation for women's safety on board.

A Teen Was Suicidal. ChatGPT Was the Friend He Confided In.

Adam Raine, 16, died from suicide in April after months on ChatGPT discussing plans to end his life. His parents have filed the first known case against OpenAI for wrongful death.

Overwhelming at times to work on this story, but here it is. My latest on AI chatbots: www.nytimes.com/2025/08/26/t...
