This is interesting. Not just in relation to the garden-related uprising, but also due to the fact that it was prompted in part by ‘the antient persons’ not being able to ‘walke for their pleasures’ in the common fields. Given that I too like a nice walke, I’m feeling rather antient myself, now….

Two large bridges, running in parallel over the sea.

The latest post on the blog (bit.ly/44OOU7n) looks at the engineering & heritage combo that is the Seven Mile Bridge, in the Florida Keys (actually two bridges, dating from 1912 & 1982). Striking, and scenically located, they are the subject of various designations.

It’s a planet.

For the cinnabar #moths alone! Found some of their caterpillars on groundsel the other day. Didn’t know they did that, but glad they do. In case the neighbours pull up all your ragwort, you see.

This very much reminds me of the polar bear warning signs as you leave the built up area of Longyearbyen in Svalbard.

The text underneath translates as “Applies to the whole of Svalbard”, with a subtext of “… including behind you. BEHIND YOU!”

I don’t think the Planning & Infrastructure Bill is fire-fighting. Nor are any of their current environmental and planning reforms. Labour had a perfectly good vision for planning, penned by Roberta Blackman-Woods in 2020. Now everything they’re doing is what Tufton St asked the Tories to do…
