I get a lot of different ones (mostly about how my prime account on amazon is being renewed—and I don't have one), but I admit this one was head-scratching. It's a first for me. My youngest son just said, "Who are they expecting to catch with that?"

Today's spam phone call: "I am Lana and I'm am calling from <mumble> office."

"The what office?"

"The Astrology office."

Today in writer's life: HEIR OF LIGHT's book day. Pub days are the culmination of a lot of people's efforts, so I pause from the rest of 10k-paper-cut-2025 to briefly celebrate!

The worst - for me - are when I'm caught in story flow and I'm just... trying to grasp all of the story before it passes me by. I'll have sentences mashed together that should have been separate sentences >.<. Not often, but it does happen (usually toward the end of the book).

I wish. I typed 'large' when I meant 'small', and she pointed this out. Without the sarcasm >.<

Notes from the copy-editing trenches: Large and small are not the same word and do not mean the same thing T_T.

All cursing and teeth gnashing aside, copy-editors are, imho, essential.

... but I daydream of a time when I hand in a book to the CE and *there are no corrections* required.

I didn't mind it for the first couple of weeks. But I think I expected it to be over by now, and I find it harder and harder to just ignore it while trying to write >.<

We had, in the summer, a huge deluge of rain that flooded basements up and down our street. Our flooding was low and manageable. Our neighbors was ... not.

But I swear they have been rebuilding the basement for a month now >.<. I think they're sawing and drilling today. During writing time. T_T

Well, for almost as many years of my life, it was called 'stomach flu' when I was growing up. Food poisoning not being something contagious >.<

This is really virulent. I generally catch anything ENT related, but skip norovirii. Not, sadly, this one =/

well, the good thing about norovirii is they pass quickly. It's a couple of days of misery and then recovery. Unlike a lot of the 'flus, which persist for weeks =/

Our whole household was hit by the latest norovirus.

Now I'm that almost-recovered phase where I'm very, very hungry, which is awful, but if I eat anything, I feel worse.

I haven't done much writing the past few days, and really can't afford that >.<.

2025, right?

I admit, when writing, that I find this encouraging--but also, while rewriting the same paragraph four times, wondering if I can live up to it >.<

They're actually among my few comfort rereads; I wish she would write more of them, l but I'll read anything she writes, regardless.

The best thing about working in the bookstore, still, is being able to recommend books to people I think will love them :D. And also: @tkingfisher.com is absolutely her own author, but there's a vein of Pratchett running through her (especially the Hamster books) that I adore.

Ted asks the obvious question >.>. My deodorant is in a cupboard in the kitchen because that's the closest place to the door I use to leave the house. So in the sleep-foggy early-morning OMG LATE rush, it's close at hand.

I am trying to imagine sticking something from the fridge into my armpits and failing to see the benefits >.<
