(Pineau des Charentes in the glass.)
Whenever I think of Quebec I find myself in awe of the sheer, iron stubbornness of the Quebecois. The battle of the Plains of Abraham was 266 years ago, and French Canada has been entirely cut off from the mother country ever since--AND STILL THEY FUCKING SPEAK FRENCH. Paladins one and all.
02.08.2025 19:28 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0How lovely. Iβve been to Bormio and poked around Braulioβs facility; I havenβt been to Bassano dice I was a kid, though. Itβs high on my list.

01.08.2025 13:06 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There a not-small part of me that believes all streets should look more or less like this (Jarnac, Charentes,
France).
I can't tell you precisely how old that bottle is but I can tell you that before the whole "small batch" business Old Fitz was very much at the class end of the bourbon spectrum, and at 6 years old I have no doubt of its deliciousness. Enjoy, you lucky man!

The solemn occasion marking 31 July 1970, the final day of the rum ration in the British Navy; it was poured as usual at 6 bells in the forenoon watch (11am) after the pipe of 'up spiritsβ.
I'm moving more and more to endorsing the idea that the Executive Mansion should be a 3 bedroom basement apartment underneath a new, boring as shit, executive office building.

26.07.2025 16:17 β π 4375 π 1091 π¬ 6 π 0My photo shows a small Roman flask made of translucent cobalt blue glass in the form of a mouse, viewed in profile with head to the left. The neck of the flask (on the right) is funnel-shaped and slightly up-turned to look like a tail. The body of the vessel is rounded and has four tooled trails for feet. A separate blob of glass forms the head with eyes, ears, and a pointed nose. The flask surface is decorated with distinctive trails of glass which have been flattened and notched, using a technique known as βsnake threadβ. Dimensions 6.3 x 5.1 x 14.6 cm.
Something lovely for the weekend! A 1,800 year-old Roman glass flask shaped like a little mouse π π

This has been on eBay for weeks. Sure, itβs fairly flimsy, a little drab and perhaps a tad overpriced, but this is a rare example of the first 3-piece cocktail shaker, manufactured by the company that patented it in 1882. Plus it has a little secret that makes it work better than most modern ones.
