I may have picked it up from a slip of the tongue from my Grandma, who, for the entirety of her life that I know of, was convinced “phantom” was pronounced “phanthom” (sort of rhymes with “anthem”)

All I can really think of was I didn’t see the word “camel” in print particularly often at that age. I did learn to read with the phonetic method (you can tell, because I can read.)

For probably too long a time, I was 100% sure the animal we call a “camel” was called a “canamel” (rhymes with “animal”). I cannot say where this stray syllable came from. I think my parents thought it was a cute affectation. I was dead serious.

There are various Pangolins on a beige background. (Giant Pangolin, White-bellied Pangolin, Chinese Pangolin, Ground Pangolin, Sunda Pangolin, Long-tailed Pangolin, Indian Pangolin, Philippine Pangolin) Some have babies riding on their tails. There are also small termites around.
