Trying to regain some headspace attempting a #mending technique we learned in a 3-hour workshop last week. Black #yarn warp with black/white barberpole yarn weft.

I can't say I'm 100% happy with the result, but at least the #sweater is wearable next winter. (Not wearing it in today's 37C heat!!)

Social Me(dea) Recently I started posting on Bluesky (I signed up a little while ago) and I'm happy/sad I did. First the happy news. There's a lot more engagement on Bluesky than my other social media site so far. I guess in spite of all the misgivings of joining yet another social media site again owned by a corporation, the bottom line is it's where my posse has moved to from the site formerly known as twitter.

Smackdown! LYS vs Online Stores With so many outlets available for buying scrumptious yarn online, such as Etsy, Ravelry IndieUntangled's Marketplace, etc., and all the other tempting, stash enhancing websites out there (YMMV/NAYY), it's a wonder that brick and mortar shops are still with us post-plague. Our LYS opened an online shop a few years ago. Of course I'm happy for them, especially knowing how much blood, sweat and tears went into getting that site ready for prime time, but I'm also conflicted.

I ask you, what's a Yarnaholic to do?!

Finding this pattern 2 years late but someone basically took the fingering weight version of my free BY-NC-SA kippah pattern, turned it inside out and made it into a separate pattern. Debating whether or not to get my knickers in a bind. Theirs is free, CC0. Still…grrr.

Our local #knitting group is looking for a place with a/c for our summer meetings. The only remaining brick and mortar yarn shop in our little town apparently has a table open for crocheters, but not knitters. How strange is that?!

It really makes me wonder how many people actually get pattern gauge! May need to make a poll somehow...

Gauge Me Not! It's frustrating, I tell you. Knowing that I'm a loose knitter, I normally drop between one and two needle sizes before even starting my gauge swatch (yes, I do them). And even when it looks like I've either hit gauge or a small smidgen off, the end product is not near gauge. Even my grandson's first birthday sweater project, where the 30 stitch swatch was knit IN THE frickin' ROUND by sliding the stitches across a circular dpn, the row gauge in the sweater itself was off.

Gauge. Don't talk to me about gauge. 🧶 #knitting

Only goes to show that a 🧶yarn mama knows her babies. (And, of course, a yarn papa does, too.)
