7) Value of Perseverance
Sustained perseverance over the years led to the downfall of the Nazis but it was constant over the years. 8/

6) Beware of collaboration!!
The French were led by a puppet government in Vichy that provided many horrible atrocities including the removal of Jews to the concentration camps. We must be wary of these dangers!

5) Diverse populations
We need all types of people to help build the resistance including men, women, young people, religious groups. The Episcopal Bishop of Washington DC has shown us a way in her remarks this week to the President. 6/

3) Moral courage matters!!
We are going through times when people don’t rely on their morals but we must allow our actions to be a powerful act of defiance against injustice.
4) Small acts can have a cumulative effect.
The French Resistance spread the word via pamphlets and other media. 5/

Here are some other key takeaways that we can learn AND use from the French Resistance today.

1) Ordinary people can make extraordinary stands.
2) Effective resistance requires well-organized networks and leadership. Safe places, like those in social media, can be very helpful. 4/

For many of us, we need to keep the spirit of resistance to help us make moral decisions in the face of today’s political climate. 4/

The French Resistance wasn’t perfect but it can teach us valuable lessons about the power of civilian courage, the importance of organized opposition against tyranny, and the potential for small acts to create significant impact. 2/

I’ve been thinking about what we can learn from the actions of the French Resistance during World War II. Their four years of occupation by the Nazis and how they worked to liberate themselves amazes me. Here are a few thoughts… 1/
