I've been seeing a lot of people disparaging democracy as a failure. It has not failed us. We however as a nation have been failing it.

For it to succeed, it needs an engaged and informed populace. Which is why those who want power but not responsibility, attack Free speech and public education

By the time Starmer is replaced this summer, we'll have had two wasted years, in which a country crying out for transformation instead got more of the same, or even worse where environmental legislation is concerned, and a high possibility of Farage running the next government.
Thanks Keir.

Labour MPs owe their seats to Boris Johnson and Liz Truss. They weren’t elected because of Starmer or his brilliance, they were elected because they wanted the Tories out by any means necessary. Labour never had a plan, and we’re seeing the consequences of this now.

Y’all didn’t realize they were using β€œDemocracy dies in darkness” as a mission statement, not a salutary motto

The problem with social media is that you’re only allowed to hold opinions in batches. If you believe X and Y, you must also believe Z, which is atmospherically similar to X and Y and believed by all the same people.

If you don’t do this, everyone hates you. It makes actual thinking impossible.

The irreverent Daily Express surpassing itself in stupidness with this headline, swathed in the Union flag: NEARLY 10 YEARS ON AND WE ARE STILL WAITING!
So today the paper that led the call to leave the EU says...
NOW YOU MUST GIVE BRITAIN A PROPER BREXIT
Nigel Farage, Kemi Badenoch and Boris Johnson

To those saying, "but the Greens will split the vote":
1. Things have changed.
2. It's not the Green's fault that Starmer has the Merdas Touch (turns everything to shit)
3. When the Greens offer the only inspiring option, perhaps we should see the Labour candidate as splitting the vote.

The Greens will win Gorton and Denton. The only way this won’t happen will be if Labour split the vote. They should do the respectable thing and stand aside. Country above party etc.!

A man assaulted Representative Ilhan Omar at her town hall, but she responded by dropping an f-bomb. Both sides need to tone things down.

Coming tomorrow, by someone who thinks of themself as a serious person.

Went to my local library this morning to do a bit of research for my current book project and my goodness such a life-affirming space! There was an adult being taught to read on the next table, children enjoying story time, countless people taking out books. So grateful for our libraries ❀️

I trust folks in Gorton & Denton to be smarter than the NEC and get behind the progressive candidate best placed to win.

But there’s a high risk of the vote splitting and Reform winning.

If the Greens win it, it would certainly disprove McSweeney’s assumption that progressives will return to Lab
