There isn’t anything being advertised close to $200k on MLS or the personal real estate agents sites in those areas?

There are the two houses they were trying to sell w an apartment bld, now selling separate as a duplex and house for $350k, others for more too.

Part of the reason I haven’t put in offers yet. There haven’t been many yet that I want to go through the emotions of a bidding war for.

We are now in the search of the illusive perfect forever home vs a starter home.

The issue is they don’t seem to enforce it. 😔

I would be very apprehensive of the Australia way with their widely known issues in affordability in their markets. I know Sydney is bad, but I’m not sure how widespread.

Hearing the GTA has bidding wars for rentals now, blew my mind. It was already horrible looking in 2015!

There is one currently in St Vital for $180k but I would bet my down payment it’s going to go for considerably more.

Oh definitely! The older generations are having an extremely hard time understanding the market prices, the lack of starter homes (or the prices of a starter home) and the impact to younger generations and affordability.

The closest is the infills on Centennial St in River Heights, which they are tearing down the older and smaller single family homes, subdividing to 25ft lots and putting in 2 duplexes for ~$650k.

But they are not $200k to start. A small bungalow on the st was just posted for $424k.

I feel like I’ve been holding on tightly to the hope it would change, and trying everything I can do in my network and within my power to change it for positive.

But any positives now feel significantly outweighed by negatives. I won’t be spending any money on it this year and probably won’t watch.

It was one of my first special interests in my life. Obsessed, puts it lightly.

But all summer I have not cared about a signing (apart from disappointment in the Jets signing Toews), felt helpless with the WJC trial, and the aftermath in the comments/posts and illustration of the danger done.

I hate today.

Today is an anniversary of something I will always regret, not because it happened or the impact on my life, but because I knew in my heart I didn’t want to.

Reminder of evidence that was EXCLUDED from trial: - The 2022 Hockey Canada investigation interviews with the players, which included statements that Foote was naked from the waist down when he did the splits over EM's face and that EM fell outside the bathroom at Jack's - Text from a witness immediately after the event that said "[Dube] was smacking that girl's ass so hard. It look like it hurt so bad."

And yet, during the Hockey Canada trial, we saw rape myths on full display across five teams of defense lawyers. At no point did the judge correct such myths. The judge DID make sure to remind the jury that they were to disregard signs outside that said "Justice for survivors", though. Interesting what counts as biasing. Or rather, WHO counts.

PLUS! Due to a precedent setting ruling from the Ontario Superior Court in 2024, expert witnesses in trauma are no longer allowed to be called by the Crown in sexual assault trials. The Court decided that expert testimony in that area is "unnecessary and confusing" and that "instruction against the myth-based reasoning is sufficient".

Thanks to the Ontario Coalition of Rape Crisis Centres for synthesizing exactly why the Hockey Canada trial set EM up to fail.
