I've also felt a much greater need for sleep after keeping a Generally short sleep schedule. Over the last 10 years, I'd usually sleep 4-6 hours per night. Now its gotta be 6-8, no questions asked.

I just turned 35 and feel like I've been more sensitive to caffeine lately. I bought some half caff coffee to try in the morning and felt surprisingly good. No caffeine headache or irritability (beyond the normal amount) I guess this is self care when you get old.

Sad. Rogue Dead Guy Ale was the first craft beer I remember really enjoying. Unlocked a door for me in my enjoyment of beer, which was especially a big deal having my first drinks in South Dakota where Busch Light reigns. #beer

No, its still not a political win by any stretch. Its still a roll of the dice, but it does keep a couple cards in their hands to use as a check against Trump and Republicans in the future.

Trump and GOP still have the upper hand here. #shutdown

2. They force the GOP to take a public stand on healthcare funding. Even if the GOP doesn't hold a vote as promised, the GOP still has to publicly refuse to do so. So, whether it is as a party or individually, Dems can still name and shame in 2026.

1. They negotiated to keep the Government Accountability Office funded and independent as part of the spending bull, which will help them keep (some) control of Trump's desire to use unilateral power over budgetary matters.

The Messy Politics of the Democratic Shutdown Deal

Trump proposes 50-year mortgage plan as housing costs soar President Donald Trump has suggested creating a new 50-year mortgage plan, according to a post on his Truth Social platform.

If the interest rate was between 1.5-3.0%, this actually might not be a bad deal. #mortgage

There were no mayday calls, which could speak to sudden sinking due to one or more rogue waves.

Also interesting that the ship sunk 550 ft deep but the ship itself is 729 ft long, so its possible the front of the ship hit the bottom while the back of the ship was still above the water.

The captain was known for saying "can't make money with an empty ship" and he felt empowered by the ship's size to keep running in bad weather. One of the prevailing theories as to why it sunk was poor maintenance of the hatches, which caused it to take on water quickly.

Reading/watching more about the #EdmundFitzgerald upon the 50th anniversary of its sinking. It seems the Fitz was an unfortunate victim to greed and recklessness. It was one of the few ships that ran late into the season when the weather got bad.

If SCOTUS strikes down President Trump's current tariffs, he has plenty of other options There’s a whole list of alternative tariffs the administration could deployβ€” but they might require investigations, include time limits on them, or need Congressional authorization.

Marketplace offers great reporting on what happens if Trump's reciprocal #tariffs are struck down by the Supreme Court.

It is not the end of tariffs from the President, by any means, but it will force the president to classify tariffs in a more specific way.
