A spaceship is itself like a wheelchair. It's an assistive device that compensates for not being able to fly around in the vacuum of space unaided. "Surely with advanced future biomedicine it'd be easier to 'correct' a chronic dependency on breathable atmosphere," and yet! It'd be less relatable.

Shout out to one of the very first visuals of AC6 to be released being a glimpse of the player character as a motionless cadaverous medical body horror experience beneath a dirty plastic tarp.

Alt text also has a big curb cut effect. Not that it's the main reason to do it, but I can't count how many times I've checked the alt text on a still from media I don't recognise or a meme I don't understand or fanart of a character I don't know and discovered something new.

Viera have an interesting relationship with gender. Tales Under the New Moon ("The First of Many Festivals") has Wuk Lamat reminiscing with Erenville about the day they first met, and says that at the time, she thought him a girl. And Erenville says "technically speaking, you weren't wrong".

In the pew-lined interior of a dim medieval church lit by rows of candles on tall staffs and pale sunlight coming through a window, a tall humanoid crow figure with flowing black robes and a glowing yellow eye stands beneath an ornately carved semicircular arch in Norman Romanesque style. On the wall surrounding the arch are many colourful murals depicting more humanoid crow figures with halos, carrying various items including swords, spears, harps, and chalices.

A painting set in a cosy shady woodland clearing on a sunny summer's day. In the centre of the frame, two figures sit on a fallen log mostly hidden by vegetation. The figure on the right has wavy blonde hair down past her shoulders, and wears a flowing white floor-length dress with long sleeves, with delicate lacework around the cuffs and neckline. She looks into the distance with a contemplative, sad expression. On her lap rests a small green book, covered by both of her hands.
The figure on the left sits leaning with her head against shoulder of the other figure. She wears a similar dress but simpler, and in a dark slate grey. Her hair is dark and straight, and flows down her tilted face, and she looks off towards a nightingale bird perched on a nearby branch. She raises a hand towards the other figure as if to get her attention.

Both figures are surrounded by various flowers. On the left of the frame are many spires of foxglove flowers in vivid pink and white, interspersed among green stinging nettles. On the right are the purple flowers of monkshood/wolfsbane.

Wrapping around the figures is a clear stream flowing from a distant pond that descends in a series of steps. Around the stream are many small mossy rocks, and shoots of dark green dog's mercury.

Above and behind the figures and flowers are two trees; on the left is a weeping willow with dangling dark green leaves. On the right are the branches of an old ash tree.

A snowy scene in which a humanoid figure in long black robes with the head of a rook stands in a churchyard holding a long spear. By its feet is a red fox. Both are flecked with fallen snow. Around them are many weathered snow-covered graves. In the background is a medieval church of warm coloured stone with large rectangular windows and a battlemented parapet topped with pinnacles. Behind the main body of the church is the tower with clock face and belfry. Behind the church are tall but bare trees dusted with snow. More snow falls in the air.

February 11, 2025: Welcome Possum Creek!
We are thrilled to announce that Possum Creek, the award-winning independent game publisher, has joined Steve Jackson Games as an imprint. Based in Philadelphia, Possum Creek is best known for Wanderhome, a pastoral fantasy RPG about traveling animal-folk. Wanderhome has won numerous awards, including ENNIEs for Best Family-Friendly Game, Best Cover Art, and Best Interior Art.

As an imprint, Possum Creek will still have full creative and editorial control over their titles. However, the Possum Creek team will also lend their talents to the SJ Games design and visual branding. Jay Dragon, Editorial Director at Possum Creek, will join our Board Of Directors and become our Lead Game Designer. Ruby Lavin will become our Art Director while retaining that position at Possum Creek.

What does all of this mean? It means that Steve Jackson Games will keep bringing innovative, exciting, and fun games to the tabletop gaming community – and that we have even more talented people to help us in that mission. We can't wait to see what comes next!

I don’t know what works, exactly, but I know what doesn’t work.

What doesn’t work is the endless and obsessive search for the β€œone right way” to fix the world. There is no single vanguard who can save us, just like there is no politician or revolutionary leader who will lead us all into a bright, shining future. There’s also no single ideology–not even my beloved anarchism–that’s going to do it.

The Zapatistas have a saying that lives in my head, that they’re fighting for a world in which many worlds are possible. If we are fighting for a pluralistic, multicultural world, then we must fight for it in pluralistic, multicultural ways.
