When he started talking I said “nobody cares!” and turned it off. Refreshing.

Carney’s first big campaign mistake came today when he didn’t immediately remove Paul Chiang from #election2025. Whoops. Don’t become the defenders of that which is deplorable. #cdnpoli #carney #liberal

The hit piece where I learn the candidate in question has a doctorate from Oxford and was a standout among his peers.

If there was ever a moment when Trump should use his “you’re fired!” catchphrase, this war plans in the group chat thing is that moment.

Most elections in Canada I hear people saying “if only we had better choices… are these the best options we have?” Finally, I believe we have a GREAT choice with Mark Carney.

Numbers looking good for Liberals but they have a lot of work to do, quickly, to find top tier candidates in every riding.

If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have profoundly misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.

In his prepared remarks, Poilievre praises noted racist PM John A MacDonald saying that Canada should be “unapologetic” about its proud history. Yikes. #cndpoli #pierre #canada

The Liberals need some stronger candidates to declare ASAP. Contenders should have been ready to launch on Tuesday. The clock is ticking and Canadians are watching #cdnpoli #canada #trudeau

Trudeau’s resignation has almost nothing to do with Trump. If Harris won the presidency we’d still be at this exact same moment. His poll numbers have been tanking for at least a year and the Liberal party, wisely, pushed him out to hopefully have a more tenable candidate for the 2025 election.

In his Farewell Address on January 14, 1981, President Jimmy Carter worried about the direction of the country. He noted that the American people had begun to lose faith in the government’s ability to deal with problems and were turning to “single-issue groups and special interest organizations to ensure that whatever else happens, our own personal views and our own private interests are protected.” This focus on individualism, he warned, distorts the nation’s purpose because “the national interest is not always the sum of all our single or special interests. We are all Americans together, and we must not forget that the common good is our common interest and our individual responsibility.”

Carter urged Americans to protect our “most precious possessions: the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the land which sustains us,” and to advance the basic human rights that had, after all, “invented America.” “Our common vision of a free and just society,” he said, “is our greatest source of cohesion at home and strength abroad, greater even than the bounty of our material blessings.”

This is the Jimmy Carter piece you want to read today. @hcrichardson.bsky.social has a full look at the former President from his humble beginnings to his remarkable post-White House work on democracy & human rights.

100% - everyone thinks Trump can’t be serious when he says outrageous things, until he does those very things.

This territorial expansion ‘joke’ Trump keeps making about Canada, Panama, and Greenland ought to be taken more seriously. Putin is Trump’s role model. And Trump seems pretty much okay with the idea that Russia has earned some of Ukraine.

This is just. A consistent pro-life ethic aligned with the Sermon on the Mount includes taking a stand against the necessity of capital punishment.
…Now if only he would stop providing weapons to Israel’s massacre of Palestinians, then I would be actually impressed.

One of the best things I’ve ever done is travel and spend quality time with fellow Jesus-followers in places like Kenya, Cuba, Palestine, and Lebanon. I have seen what good Biblical theology looks like applied in love and compassion to the poor. It’s beautiful.

It’s startling how few people on @bsky.app seem to understand that white American evangelical christian nationalism does not represent the majority of the Christian religion globally.

There is something very Christlike about pardons for repentant criminals, especially those who committed their crimes at their lowest point. I hope Biden will find more opportunities to extend the grace of a presidential pardon before his term is up.
