That was my instinct last night too. Like, they pulled him out of class and made him think he was being punished. But, I told him I'd drop it unless the other parents come back with something else. Then, I really will step up and set up a meeting with like everyone at the school 😆

I told him I'd drop it, but I might be nosy and ask the teacher if there's more to the story bc it all seems sooo dramatic!

Yeah! It was the first I had heard of that policy, & I think it's so backwards. One thing I've learned about schools in my time as a parent, teacher, & admin is that everything is reactive. "oh, some students are disrupting instructional time by leaving, so let's make a blanket policy for everyone"

Thank you for saying. He's relieved that we weren't mad (grossed out, yes, but not mad), & I think he's more embarrassed than anything. But, he's 15, so he's shrugging it off & acting like it's fine. Maybe it is! Hopefully he & water bottle girl will be fine in class. I told him to just avoid her

So true. I never liked the idea that they parcel out those passes. All kinds of situations that a student wouldn't want to discuss could warrant a need to go to the restroom or water fountain.

Yeah, the pass thing is weird too. Like, if they aren’t disturbing instructional time, let them go to the restroom. These schools are like police states sometimes. But they also have shooter drills every other week which sometimes brings my ND son home in tears so here we are 🫤

Yeah, that was what I had to clarify with him. It honestly seemed like an honest (though gross kiddo!) mistake. My kids have all sorts of neuro-spiciness so I always want to give the benefit of the doubt but this seems like a pretty clear example of needing to take acct of one’s own actions.

I thought so too!! but I have a weird sense of humor so I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t laughing at somebody else’s stress. It’s so ridiculous! I have real issues to deal with! I can’t believe I’ve spent hours today dealing with this!
