I wasn't aware that the sleek kingfisher also come as #borbs The sun was setting, it was cold and this kingfisher was moving along a reedbed fishing, It did catch a small fish but it swallowed it before I managed to photograph it.

Peanuts are very fattening you know!
It's a 25mm hole, but seems to be a bit of a squeeze for the blue tit, who's probably looking for somewhere warm to roost over the winter. It went in and out 3 times and examined every part of the box.

Strange that 2 bird species I've never seen in the garden before visited the bird bath today, a (lesser?) redpoll and a grey wagtail, I only have CCTV quality video, I hope they come back tomorrow so I can get some better quality video.

Yes, they are Eurasian collared doves, although I am in the UK and here they were not introduced, they actually took about 100 years to spread slowly breeding their way from Asia across Europe so not classes as invasive here.

I attract way too many collared doves, every morning they descend on to the bird feeder, sometimes as many as a dozen and whoever said they symbolise peace has obviously never watched them, they squabble all the time!

Not only does this chiffchaff have #SkinnyLegs they also apparently need a good wash. It came back several times during the same day or maybe they were different birds, but it's rare for me to see any.

Well if you pop into St James Park, the other side of Buckingham palace from Hyde park, you'll see quite a few non UK water birds, as that's where the collection of ducks, geese and pelicans given to the royal family over the centuries live.

Well, they might eat a few of your eggs and chicks.

The wood pigeon may be twice the size of the Eurasian jay, but it doesn't trust it, they really do seem to have a bad reputation with other birds. (CCTV video from the bird bath)

They are own brand from B&M, a UK discount store, they're cheap, £11 for 150/12.75kg, as the jackdaws, ring necked parakeets and grey squirrels eat a lot of them.

Long tailed tits must be the cutest birds that visit the feeder. I usually only see them in the autumn and winter, quite often in mixed flocks with blue tits and great tits, much to the annoyance of the resident blue tit, who will attack them. youtu.be/L9NXhFVKI7Q

It was one of the many 30c days we've had this year. So I think this European robin was trying to cool down by completely opening its feathers to expose its skin and panting, not sure why it didn't just jump in the water, maybe it would have if something didn't scare it.

I notice several of the house sparrows have ticks on their head, as they can't preen there. They seem to pick them up nesting, I guess from the grass they use for nesting material. Hopefully they are heathy enough to live with the parasite until it's had its fill and falls off.

The great tit is wary of the large blue tit, it's not unusual for it to bully the other birds, It probably didn't even want to have a bath but just wanted to make sure everybody knows who bath it is!

The wood pigeon does not seem to be impressed with the shower it receives while trying to get a drink. The starlings seem to be loving bathing in the hot weather.
