2024 Year in Review

2024 has been an exciting year in which we have seen the exceptional outcomes of all the work and efforts of previous years.

Colorectal cancer refers to cancer that starts in the colon or rectum. It's the third most common type of cancer in both men and women worldwide. UCD Cancer Cluster offer MOUNTAINEER-03 trial which explores improved treatments for metastatic colorectal cancer.

March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

Ovarian cancer is a significant cause of mortality among women in Ireland. Between 2013 and 2015, it ranked as the fourth most common cause of cancer deaths among Irish women.

FDA approves durvalumab for limited-stage small cell lung cancer On December 4, 2024, the Food and Drug Administration approved durvalumab (Imfinzi, AstraZeneca) for limited-stage small cell lung cancer (LS-SCLC).

FDA approves durvalumab for LS small cell lung cancer based on Ph III ADRIATIC trial:

- PFS benefit (HR 0.76)
- OS benefit (HR 0.73)
- 2 yrs durvalumab after definitive chemoRT
- currently available in 🇮🇪 on EAP
