Without hope (faith, belief in something better, whatever you want to call it) we are just thrashing endlessly against all of the painful things in this world, never pushing towards a heading that might allow us to emerge from it and create a lasting better world.

We have to learn to hope in the face of great struggle. If we can't envision what a better world could look like, we can't begin to work towards that world.

A little tragic that The Testament of Ann Lee got passed up entirely this year. Really great performances, remarkable songs, and not quite like anything I have ever seen before.
