I spoke with the Edmonton Journal about Canada losing its measles elimination status — the only G7 country to do so.
40% of outbreaks are in Alberta, where the UCP blocked its top doctor from urging vaccines.
Politics should never come before public health.
We remember their courage, their sacrifice, and the freedoms they secured for all of us.

It shouldn't be this hard to get vaccinated, but we still have to do our part.
Make sure to book an appointment and get your COVID vaccine to protect yourself and those around you.

Danielle Smith is surprised that Albertans are using recall legislation for its intended purpose.
That's how the law works, Premier.
And no cabinet minister should implement laws while believing they are above them.

When asked to denounce separatism and affirm Alberta's place in Canada, the UCP did everything in their power to avoid going on the record.
Are they proud to be Canadian or not?

Albertans deserve better than an undemocratic, authoritarian government with an absent Premier.

Demetrios Nicolaides stood by while the UCP silenced teachers. Now he’s forcing them back to overcrowded classrooms with no support, no solutions, and no respect.
He’s failed teachers, students, and families.
It’s time for him to resign.

The Premier has lost the confidence of her caucus, and she's lost the confidence of every single Albertan.
This is far from over.
For Danielle Smith and the UCP, it's the beginning of the end.

Danielle Smith is a coward.
She refused to negotiate in good faith with teachers, refused to end this strike by offering a fair deal, and, worst of all, she violated Albertans’ Charter rights without even showing up for debate.
We do not take the privilege of serving in this House for granted.
You have my word:
Alberta’s New Democrats will never use the notwithstanding clause to violate your rights or abuse the power of the Premier’s office.

Can you ...recall.. a worse Minister of Education?
Not that ... we can .. recall.
It’s confirmed: Danielle Smith will force teachers back to work, using the notwithstanding clause against workers for the first time in Alberta’s history.
TUNE IN NOW as Alberta’s New Democrats respond to the UCP’s unprecedented abuse of power: youtube.com/live/8BJkmSA...
Parents, the UCP kept your kids out of school for over 3 weeks and hasn't taken a single step since to improve learning conditions.
What an insult to you, your kids and their teachers.
And now they’re going to force teachers back to those same conditions.

One of the largest rallies in Alberta's history.
25,000+ people. One message:
We stand for public education.
Forcing teachers back to school without addressing any of their concerns is the biggest abuse of democratic rights in Alberta’s history.
Alberta’s New Democrats stand with teachers and unequivocally condemn this attack on public education, on workers and their unions, and democracy itself. /1
Today, I take my seat in the Legislature for the first time as the MLA for Edmonton-Strathcona and Leader of the Official Opposition.
Representing you in this chamber is an incredible honour of a lifetime and a responsibility that I’m deeply grateful for.
Thank you, Alberta.
From addressing the cost of living to fixing public education, improving public healthcare, and attracting investment to create good jobs with good wages, Alberta's New Democrats are focused on what matters most to you.

Mayors, reeves, councillors, school board trustees — the people who make the decisions that impact our lives every day. Electing strong local leadership only happens if we exercise our right to vote!
Monday, October 20th, is E-Day!
Research your candidates, make a plan, and get out & vote!
The cuts, chaos, and corruption continues.
The UCP told us that we would see a draft report of the Corrupt Care investigation on May 30th. Then they said June, then September, then October 15th.
Well, that day has come and gone.
We have been calling for a fully independent public inquiry.
If the UCP has nothing to hide, they should release the report now.
Anything other than full disclosure proves exactly WHY we need a full public inquiry.
"I didn't become a teacher so I could fight with the government. I became a teacher so I could make a difference."
Teachers have been extremely clear about what they need to help students succeed: more teachers, more classrooms.

Teachers are still on strike. Parents are struggling. Kids are caught up in the middle.
Tonight, Amanda and I are sitting down to talk about the impact of this strike on Albertan families across the province.
Join us for Parent-Teacher Interviews at 7:30 PM: www.youtube.com/@NaheedNensh...
Amanda's kids go to a school that's 141% over capacity.
A grade 1 classroom with 43 kids, where kids are eating lunch on the floor, and there isn't enough support to go around.
This is unacceptable.
Alberta's kids deserve better.

Lauren, a high school social studies teacher, is putting it all on the line to demand better from the UCP.
Better classrooms.
Better support.
Better public education.
All for Alberta's kids.
Thank you, Lauren.

Danielle Smith provoked this strike.
The UCP wants to break public education.
We won't let them. #WeStandWithTeachers

Line chart showing Alberta’s real dollars per student dropping under the UCP. Text highlights: Alberta is last in per-student funding, class sizes of 40+, and that the UCP could have acted months ago.
Students walking toward a school. Text says Alberta’s NDP built and modernized 244 schools in four years, while the UCP has only built or modernized 78 in five years.
Student standing in a library aisle. Text says Alberta’s NDP funded education per student above the national average and that past NDP funding remains higher than the UCP’s, even with inflation.
Classroom scene with raised hands. Text says Alberta's NDP introduced a 2023 bill to bring back class size reporting, and the UCP defeated it.

Alberta’s New Democrats stand with teachers. ❤️
Today, we unanimously voted to:
🪧 recognize and respect the work of teachers and education professionals
🗳️ defend and respect collective bargaining & strongly condemn any attempt to undermine it.
✊ stand in solidarity with teachers if they strike
Danielle Smith's 'plan' for a pipeline is nothing but a pipe dream.
There's no route, no partner, no funding, and no consultation. Just another $14 million of taxpayer funds wasted on a project that does nothing and goes nowhere.
Alberta's New Democrats got it done once, and we'll do it again.
