Time to take a big sip of my tea and turn to my trusted local paper for coverage of this trade by one of the local teams.

I just mean he plays for the Wizards (he got traded to them) and they showed him on the screen in DC at the Wizards game but because the Wizards were playing the Knicks, there were so many Knicks fans there that he got booed by his home crowd. Not that heโs actually from DC.

When I tried reporting on LSU, football, and gendered violence as a freelancer, I hit so many walls. I joined the team at USA Today and we did award-winning work bc, in large part, it was a big team of people and they were able to sue the school repeatedly, which was withholding public documents.

Bezos isn't destroying the Washington Post because it isn't profitable. He's destroying the Washington Post because he's calculated that a robust free press threatens the ability of his class to warp society around their interests

sports coverage is not about box scores anymore. it's about power and politics and corruption and sovereign wealth and real estate and the use of taxpayer money and the most publicized labor disputes in the country and yes, sometimes about ball go in hoop

God this sucks. It's obviously bad for journalism as a whole, but my heart aches for DC. We've been through the fucking wringer this past year and they're continuing to destroy the paper and now we can count all of these talented journalists amongst the unemployed.

one thing that would be cool, when prominent creators turn out to be terrible people, would be if we didn't have to go through this performative dance of insisting that their work was never good in the first place.

Could she coast down a hill on skis in a straight line? Probably, yeah. This is not about pain or making the knee worse. This is a stability problem. I have no idea how she can physically change directions on a knee with a ruptured ACL. It's not worth it! Just don't!

Because of [gestures at the American healthcare system], I had a pretty long gap between my injury and my surgery. I could hobble around on the knee and bear weight. I'm sure with the right stabilization and plenty of drugs, she can put on skis, but there is no way that knee is stable enough to race

Every year I think to myself, "Cell phone video of guys throwing baseballs can't possibly heal me this time. The winter has been too dark, too cold, too long. The world is too depressing." And then every year I am wrong.

The birthday thing I assume is so that it knows your age and can tailor your hydration recommendations accordingly. But yes, an app or something to remind you to drink water does have utility. I just don't think it needs to be as elaborate as a $140 smart bottle lol.

It's so absurd lmao. If you're spending $140 on this all that signals to me is that you have too much money.

Over an article saying that Mamdani will be raising minimum wage for grocery delivery apps in NYC someone comments with a facepalm emoji and says "So if you have ADHD and live in a food desert... you should just... starve. Got it."
Can't now find it but there's a classic old tweet which said something like "Every time we're on the verge of achieving class consciousness in America a CIA sleeper agent activates and, their eyes glowing red, they just tweet out "John Brown was a white saviour"" and I think about it often.

I wonder if the New York Times will go after any of the prominent academics in the Epstein files for being rapists as hard as they went after Claudine Gay for being kind of sloppy with citations in her graduate thesis.
If not, why not?
