Yes but it is 5x the cost of a gripen. On top gripen can land on any piece of tarmac. F35 needs clean tarmac, conditioned storage etc

I agree with all, but you’re neglecting the flight cost. Ukraine can’t afford f35 air patrolling. And tbh any country using f35 for airpatrolling is wasting tax payer money

Germany has a large fleet of euro fighters as their role will be airpatrolling in case of conflict with Russia. Ukraine doesn’t need jets with nuclear deep strike capabilty. They need airpatrolling. /3

Within the nato doctrine it will be these airforces which will be the tip of the spear in case of a conflict with Russia. Other jets like gripen or eurofighter are designed for airpatrolling. These are intended to be airborne for a long time at high quantity. /2

These are different planes with different purposes. F35 is a multi role jet with stealth capabilities, which makes them fitting for deep strikes (=bomb Moscow). The high costs related to the f35 makes it the perfect plane for small and rich nations, like Belgium and the Netherlands. /1

Look a Bentley is a magnitude better then a Volkswagen. But if you only need to do the groceries with it then Bentley is a waste of money. Gripen has the next advantages a) lower in purchase cost b) lower in flight cost c) lower in infrastructure cost

What would they do with Rafale or f35? I mean these are deep strike platforms. Ukraine needs air patrolling. So Gripen is the way to go. The deep strike capabilities should be missiles.

This is a reasoning mistake. The defence of Bakhmut was a tactical miss. Putting 1000’s of soldiers in a city under constant shelling is a soviet style of warfare. So I wouldn’t take it as a benchmark
