time and rest are always clunky in rpgs, but bg3 is extra annoying because it makes intuitive sense to cycle party members to maximize rest efficiency and vary up party comp because the narrative time pressure is pretty intense, but you also just miss stuff if you don't long rest enough

it's been on my mental to check list for a long while now because i love the crpg, sad to hear this

Reddit as well as large discords are also extremely guilty of this. Platforms without an archival bent that really favor new stuff / cycling are absolutely horrific for discourse, and if youre there too much, it will fry your brain

Rules knowledge in rpgs is such a strange thing, you think you know something but even if youre right its only worth so much cause if theres another plausible reading you need not only remember the rule but also the context which makes their reading inaccurate

I think a lot of early d20's charm is lost when numbers get big and you no longer are a peon who can muster like one +3 at great sacrifice in a specialized area. It's about being in the hands of luck and fate a lot of the time, and adding meager numbers to a mighty d20 creates that feel.
