It's finally morel season here in the north and I'm so happy I could cry. It was a long, mushroomless winter. It won't be long before these lil babies are fit for a frying pan.

That third set was more like it, but how did that happen??

7 months ago, he was a starving stray that arrived in my neighborhood. Scrawny and desperate for food.

Yesterday he turned up his nose at the freeze dried shrimp treats (that he got IN HIS EASTER BASKET, mind you) and refused to eat supper until I removed the offending shellfish.

Getting really depressed about the constant cool weather, I am absolutely desperate to start finding mushrooms again. This time last year I was already finding G. brunnea and F. velutipes, I might just die before morel season gets to Minnesota.

On the day of? No limit, I've got better stuff to do than police candy intake, and my kids show reasonable restraint so I'm not needed. After a holiday is over then I'll supervise it, 1-2 pieces a day if they remember to ask, which they usually don't.

My son has been dying to play tennis for years, but it wasn't really an option for us until he was old enough to join the HS team. He's in 7th grade now and he's got his very first JV match this afternoon, I am SO excited to watch him play. He's been loving practices, this is his dream come true 🥰

Correct. I'm currently sitting in the parking lot waiting for my 7th grader and his friends to get out of the theater. They organized the whole outing because it catered to THEIR interests and they wanted to see it. Kids like kid stuff! Who knew!

This afternoon I have to take my son+friends to a movie, get my daughter to volleyball practice, get the boys home, pick daughter up from practice. But in exchange for doing all the kid chauffeuring, my husband is making me homemade ravioli with wild mushrooms and alfredo sauce. So I win.

The day Biden pulled out of the race last summer, I was picking chanterelles in the woods, in a ravine with no cell service. It was very peaceful lol.

Heck even when you ARE directly serving them, they still ask for a snack. My kids have asked for snacks while eating a meal. The voraciousness knows no bounds!

Back in 2016 I had a polite disagreement with a friend who thought HRC was irresponsible with state secrets and would put her Navy husband at risk. She eventually unfriended me. News like this makes me think of her. I wonder how she is and if she can see the real threat to her husband's safety.

Got to use my new pot tonight and I'm SO thrilled with it. Started by roasting a chicken, then threw all the scraps back in (plus some more scraps from the freezer) and made a good stock that I'll use for soup this weekend. What a joy.
