I watched the Lord of the Flies episode right after I showed my husband Brand X, and….ew.

I want to SO bad but I have this weird phobia of dropping one and smashing my thumbs underneath, ending my career as a sub and sometimes rehearsal pianist.

I've almost doubled the number of entries in the music notation timeline this year alone--and it's hard to believe that in a year this resource will have been online for a decade!

I will keep using my em-dashes and keep putting way too much of my personal voice in my footnotes to prove my humanity.

My sister just told me her youngest son always has his ass-crack showing because of his preferred pants fit, and I can’t think of a better story on Mozart’s birthday.

I’ve been reading up on how the diplomatic presidency John Quincy Adams was followed by the chaotic presidency of Andrew Jackson for similar reasons. I also find soothing, though Jackson was at least involved in gov’t previously, fiercely believed in the Constitution, and was a war vet, unlike…well.

One thing I’ll always love about the DC area is how unhinged the snow coverage is on the local news.

I was just warning my elderly SEAsian parents about possible Hmong kidnappings happening soon (or happening, period) when we last spoke. They could barely believe it; dad chose to give up his law practice and immigrate to the US over England because neither he or my mom wanted another king.

Thank you!! ❀️ This excites my performance & musicologist selves! Can’t wait to try theseβ€”always been such a huge fan of Fanny & were it not for my β€œthere’s no such thing as feminism in art” all-is-opera macho advisor, I may have been able to explore more Fanny &/or Nannerl when thesis spitballing.

Also excited that I won’t 1) have to write arrangements on the piano to cover our weak and sometimes missing bass lines, or even have ti focus on playing and singing as I am the only one comfortable singing alto (we are a small group).

Love this! Also curious about trying it with some friends I get together with every other month to do small choral things. We’re missing a good bass section so the beginning of this sounds super intriguing. We’ve been talking about exploring some Fanny Hensel. Thanks for the rec/earworm. πŸ₯°

A white dog with a red-brown badger mask sleeps deeply on one of her many beds put atop of one of the various borrowed rugs set up around the house for the benefit of her traversal, her ear casually flopped open and sitting on one of the numerous water bowls we have placed in various strategic spots for her convenience.

The same white and red-brown badger masked Great Pyrenees mix sleeps comfortably on a pile of blankets on our couch, which she accessed via some hideous but completely worth it dog stairs.

We covered up most of our beautiful floor w/an eclectic (in a very un-snazzy way) highway of borrowed rugs for our arthritic & blind dog. We also have dog beds, unattractive dog stairs, & bowls, all of which we often trip over at her favorite spots. Really hope she likes the house we bought her. 🐢

The four day weekends of this year’s holiday season are passing and quickly coming to an end, but this should a priority activity for any type of day off.

The MAGAfication of Norman Rockwell Trump uses the artist’s workβ€”like other cultural iconsβ€”to promote Gestapo tactics and nativist ideas.

"Norman Rockwell was antifa," his granddaughter says. (Fact check: literally true.)

Happy Halloween! Forgot to find a proper costume, but @janesvanity.bsky.social came to the rescue. Also forgot hair and makeup (or maybe I look properly ghoulish?), so I’m showing just the floofy hem for now along with the silver go go boots I’ve been dyyyying wear for ages.
