I only already knew this information because my grandmother was a funeral director and my mom works for the department of transportation, so the overlap of their knowledge of funerals and road rules converged on me learning this when I was like 10

The Merlin one I'm in is surprisingly active! It's actually made me think about getting back into writing fanfic but it's been so long since I did a proper rewatch of the show so I feel like I've gotta do that before I start writing too much 😂

lol my grad school's alumni association is trying a new fundraising thing and it might actually work because it's "donate $10 or more to name a campus squirrel" and, like, I wasn't really planning on donating to them anytime soon but idk a $10 piece of paper to name a squirrel is kinda tempting

Yeah, unless it's very certain shades or an accent color on red, I also don't look great in it. Also all of the rivals of both of my colleges (undergrad and grad) have orange as one of their main colors so it's also just a bad idea during football season in general and therefore not in my wardrobe

I'm debating if I'm going and the fact that this album's main color seems to be orange is so hard for me when considering outfits because orange is my least favorite color

Today's college football thoughts: the assorted rivals of both of my teams all have orange as one of their main colors. This is fine with me, because I'm also just not really a fan of that color

doing the academic equivalent of stalking my mentions and keeping an eye on what papers cite my papers is proving to be a useful strategy because I just found a paper that's potentially interesting for some of my planned future work and even better it's a well-written paper I'm enjoying reading

How can something that's supposed to be beneficial (a holiday) so completely derail my ability to take care of myself?

My whole family is like that. My mom has sent photos of getting minor skin cancer removed, my brother has sent progress photos of wart removal. It's my dad (the actual boomer) who doesn't send gross photos but that's because he keeps golfing and running for three weeks before seeing a doctor 🤦

that feeling when you're almost done writing a research proposal for a postdoc and just double checking that all of your references look good, and then you find a preprint doing something very very very similar to what you're proposing to do

we have now had three different"motor vehicle theft (e-scooter)" emails this semester, and it's still the first week and at this rate I can only assume every e-scooter on campus is going to end up reported missing at some point in the semester

This week's trivia team name was "America's Royal Engagement" and we won trivia on a Swiftie final bonus question (name all four of her albums of the year) so clearly TSwift is lucky for my team
