My newborn daughter has been in the NICU since birth (4/21). We are cautiously hoping she can come home tomorrow - it all depends on if she passes a car seat test today and has an uneventful night. Will you please pray? We are so anxious to have her home with us.

Absolutely. Maybe it comes down to the motive as to why we warn/deter others from reading certain people. I’m with you on this, I think.

If I had listened to church leaders I was “under,” years ago, I never would have considered reading Eric Mason (love him). You know? There has to be some type of acknowledgement that congregants will branch out and I guess a letting go of any desire of control for the sake of tribalism/conformity.

I’ve been in circles where reading any authors or theologians who aren’t personally vetted by another well-accepted, semi-famous theologian is considered dangerous. Very sad. Very glad you + your church are operating differently!

It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule.

I used to be guilty of this, so I have hope that many will come to their senses at some point with the Holy Spirit’s guiding. But it’s certainly devastating to watch and observe how it is playing out today. Grateful for you and your work!

I love that (and agree)! I think the trouble is convincing others to do this who believe it is dangerous to read outside of their strict theological bubbles. I still do not know how to help people out of theological tribalism, especially in this American nationalist environment.
