That's precisely why primary resources are now so important - AI is blurring those lines so rapidly (ironically, because digitisation projects have offered up such a rich source of data to AI scrapers). Protect the archive, the object, and the type specimen. It is more vital than ever.

There is always the need to go back to the physical object, now more than ever. As AI grows so will our distrust - at least in our professional sphere - and we will inevitably need to rely on the original archive.

I think there is in general much lack of knowledge about the time, expertise, and digital framework required to make information accessible to begin with - so this won't have been a consideration.

I'm sure LLMs are great for revision and making connections in large data sets - but they're not very good at Understanding. This is the main duty of reading history and telling stories, in effect the job is to see the story between the words, but the machine only reads the words.

I know I am not saying anything new with this, but this is a massive misunderstanding of what historians do.

You couldnโ€™t turn on basic cable without a deluge of Girls Gone Wild commercials.

A quick scan of womenโ€™s music from the 90s would be revelatory. TLCโ€™s music was a counternarrative. Lilith Fair existed for a reason. What was Riot Grrl was rioting against? Queen Latifah gave us a whole anthem.

Yes! I pretty much never have jelly. It's always jam.

22.07.2025 20:43 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

First I do the internal jelly = jam formula and it always converts to RED which to me means strawberry - our default red jam.

My main memory of picking blueberries at a farm consists of getting crawled on by leeches. The waterlogging was pretty impressive and the blueberry trees were very happy. Also my weirdo suggestion is a tree fern - Dicksonia antarctica - (I'm obsessed) no fruits tho
