With the Bisons knocked out in SICHL round 1 to the Vipers, and the GHA Vampires done in round 2, the franchise’s season is officially concluded.

REG has many pending UFAs who won’t be back.

It was a tamer affair than the Game 4 parade to the box, but it ended no better for for the Vampires, who lost 3-1 to the Clippers, ending the series in 5.

CBR played smothering D and limited SCV to only 12 shots. The undead managed only a last minute goal to spoil a third SO for Skinner.

Schooner top goalie Stu Skinner continued his minor league show-off tour and the Clippers shut out the Vampires for the 2nd time in GHA round 2 action. CBR won 2-0 on 2/11 PP success while SCV went 0/6 in a game barely played at 5-on-5.

Santa Carla heads home down 3-1 to stave off elimination.

The Santa Carla Vampires jumped to a 2-0 lead against the home Cape Breton Clippers in game 3 of their GHA series. Mark Jankowski potted 2 on the PP.

A scoreless 2nd had SCV feeling good heading to the 3rd but CBR struck 3 times in the first 6 mins to take a 3-2 lead that they held to the buzzer.

GHA vet Conor Sheary notched his first of the playoffs on the PP just 3 mins into the extra frame to give the hometown fans a chance to launch their rubber bats on the ice.

Santa Carla was punitive of Clipper misdeeds, going 3/7 on the PP while holding the visitors 0/5 with the extra skater.

The Santa Carla Vampires rebounded with a 3-2 OT victory over NS’s Cape Breton Clippers in Game 2 of their GHA matchup.

The parent club Bisons reinforced SCV with 6 ‘demotions’ from the big club, and 2 of them - Pettersson & Bogosian - scored 3rd period goals in a comeback to tie it at 2.

Skinner earning 1st star stood out!

Skinner would’ve had to pass through waivers to join CBR in the regular season, but there are no waiver claims in effect during the playoffs.

REG GM G.K. learned of this rule only after the first game of the GHA series, and will be sending several Bisons to SCV to help out.

The wily NS GM E.S. sent SICHL Schooners starting goalie Stuart Skinner down to the farm to earn the SO, despite a full season with the top club and a loss to the Rockies in the 1st round.

The Bisons’s GHA affiliated Santa Carla Vampires will face @sichlschooners.bsky.social farm team, the Cape Breton Clippers, in round 2 of the Lévesque Conference playoffs.

The series is expected to be a tight battle, as SCV and CBR registered 118 and 116 pts respectively in the regular season.

Bisons falling off a cliff

“People talk about momentum and it just seems there wasn’t any in the series,” said Nick Suzuki. “You’d think an 8-2 win would give it to us but they came back and took the next 2. There’s no such thing.”

The team packed up to head home and clean out their lockers, wondering what could have been.

“We threw everything at them. We just couldn’t break through Bob. It’s tough when you look at the stats for the series to come out on the wrong end.”

Schenn refers to REG outscoring VAV 22-20 and outshooting them 234-204 over the 7 games.

Each had 6 PPG but REG marked on 21 chances to VAV’s 25.

Bisons lose 2-0 to the Vipers in game 7 in Vancouver, ending the Regina squad’s season. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped all 41 shots he faced, besting Linus Ullmark’s 31/33 effort.

Capt. Brayden Schenn, who has played in all 3 seasons for REG, is a UFA and may not be back next year, was despondent.

An injury to checking winger Drew O’Connor will see him miss the next few weeks.

For Game 7, the Bisons are contemplating going with 11F and 7D, returning the recently benched Carson Soucy to the lineup.

The Bison fan club vowed to take their loud, boisterous support on the road to Vancouver for game 7, where they will bring more cowbell.

The clanging has become a feature of Bison home games and will now head west to the coast.
