When did curling become so rock βn roll? π
08.02.2026 21:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm a little bit obsessed with this choral piece I just stumbled across. Primal. Powerful. Iβve watched it, like, twelve times in a row, and now Iβm debating flying to Vancouver for the composerβs next concertβ¦
23.01.2026 03:32 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sometimes dreams do come true. Sometimes it takes 35 years and every imaginable dimension of your life has changed completely. But this week Iβm remembering my 12-year-old self and the posters on her walls. Her mind would be absolutely blown.
14.01.2026 14:02 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Hey @feelcanadian.com! Congratulations on your WGC nom! That's awesome!
13.01.2026 19:43 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm doing a bit of digital housekeeping today. Apparently it has been 35 days since my last backup.
So friendly reminder for everyone, today is a GREAT day to back up your files!
Ok, the down side is that I just re-borked my hip in a deeply unpleasant fashion. The up side is I have now identified the stretch I need to never EVER do again. π¬π
24.12.2025 03:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0When I actuallly read down to that point in the recipe, I discovered thatβs what I do with mine too. I could have gone ahead and done another batch! π
24.12.2025 00:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Compared to gingerbread cookies, shortbread is SO much less of a faff, OMG. Iβm debating making a second batch in pure celebration, but I WILL regret that when Iβm rolling the damn things out. π
23.12.2025 20:55 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0When I finished shovelling the walk, I spent a good 20 minutes digging little channels in the slush of the road so the meltwater could get to the nearest drain. All the fun of playing in a sandbox and the satisfaction of doing my civic duty. Highly recommend!
23.12.2025 17:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I am also always amazed, given how slow-moving it is, that molasses manages to get absolutely everywhere.
22.12.2025 19:12 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I take comfort in the fact that, no matter how old I get, licking the bowl is still the best part of baking.
22.12.2025 19:05 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If anyone is in search of a good gingerbread recipe, this is the one Iβve come to swear by. It has a great depth of flavour without being overwhelming.
22.12.2025 18:38 β π 7 π 4 π¬ 1 π 0Making gingerbread cookies today, so itβs time for the annual softening of the brown sugar. π
22.12.2025 18:31 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Heading out to the shops on the last Saturday before Christmasβ¦ Pray for me. π
20.12.2025 15:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I also recommend turning off the automatic updates. It will try to annoy you into turning them back on, but you do get a functional product they canβt suddenly inject AI into overnight.
20.12.2025 03:34 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I just watched Wake Up Dead Man.
Are we shipping Jud and Blanc? Is that a thing?
On the most recent season of Platonic (Apple), one of the characters develops a catchphrase for her podcast: βDonβt ask, donβt get.β Thereβs some truth to this in Hollywood but only some. So this weekβs #Scriptsky #Screenwriting thread is on FAVORS. When/when not to ask and what to ask for.

Even though it's designed for features, I found the information really useful as I was putting my pilot back together. A few of the items on the checklist work slightly differently in television and in film, but the actual checklist itself is relevant to both.
Definitely worth checking out!

The podcast is an episode of the Screenwriting Life called The Feature Film Story Engine Checklist (episode 263 rebroadcast Sept 18th).

This book gives advice, then presents you with exercises that guide you along the way in baby steps. It's teaching you how to think. Also, the example script is a generic episode of Everybody Loves Raymond.
Everyone's process is different and YMMV, but this is helping me at the moment.
4π§΅
I'm finding it helpful, because unlike many of the other books I've read, it doesn't give you advice and then present you with an example like Breaking Bad (or whatever), like here, recreate this, one of the best scripts ever written.
3π§΅
The book is The TV Writer's Workbook: A Creative Approach to Television Scripts by Ellen Sandler.
It was published in 2007, but shockingly, the associated website is still up and running.
2π§΅
Two more #TVwriting resources to add to the list. Both of these have been helping enormously as I work through notes and extensive rewrites on a pilot.
One book and one (yes another) podcast episode.

Our logo of a silhouette of a phoenix rising above flames and a ringed planet. On the bird are terribly added clip-arts of a red Santa hat and a scarf. Snow is falling in the foreground. Effects added terribly mostly to annoy Tara who does an amazing job at graphics and design for us (sorry not sorry).
