Sometimes dreams do come true. Sometimes it takes 35 years and every imaginable dimension of your life has changed completely. But this week I’m remembering my 12-year-old self and the posters on her walls. Her mind would be absolutely blown.

Ok, the down side is that I just re-borked my hip in a deeply unpleasant fashion. The up side is I have now identified the stretch I need to never EVER do again. 😬😭

When I actuallly read down to that point in the recipe, I discovered that’s what I do with mine too. I could have gone ahead and done another batch! 😂

Compared to gingerbread cookies, shortbread is SO much less of a faff, OMG. I’m debating making a second batch in pure celebration, but I WILL regret that when I’m rolling the damn things out. 😂

When I finished shovelling the walk, I spent a good 20 minutes digging little channels in the slush of the road so the meltwater could get to the nearest drain. All the fun of playing in a sandbox and the satisfaction of doing my civic duty. Highly recommend!

I am also always amazed, given how slow-moving it is, that molasses manages to get absolutely everywhere.

I take comfort in the fact that, no matter how old I get, licking the bowl is still the best part of baking.

I also recommend turning off the automatic updates. It will try to annoy you into turning them back on, but you do get a functional product they can’t suddenly inject AI into overnight.

Even though it's designed for features, I found the information really useful as I was putting my pilot back together. A few of the items on the checklist work slightly differently in television and in film, but the actual checklist itself is relevant to both.

This book gives advice, then presents you with exercises that guide you along the way in baby steps. It's teaching you how to think. Also, the example script is a generic episode of Everybody Loves Raymond.

Everyone's process is different and YMMV, but this is helping me at the moment.

I'm finding it helpful, because unlike many of the other books I've read, it doesn't give you advice and then present you with an example like Breaking Bad (or whatever), like here, recreate this, one of the best scripts ever written.

The book is The TV Writer's Workbook: A Creative Approach to Television Scripts by Ellen Sandler.

It was published in 2007, but shockingly, the associated website is still up and running.
