Is this new or are we just seeing it more because Twitter bumps up paid users who might be more likely to be bonkers

Reform seeks to spend up to Β£190k on three assistants at council Opposition parties on Warwickshire County Council say the money could be better spent elsewhere.

BBC editorial standards are in the bin. Below was originally reported as Β£190k EACH when in fact it is Β£190k / 3 = c Β£65k. Not newsworthy at all -- how did it get published?

On Thursday night, we heard that government was making big concessions on its planning bill, putting lots more controls on its nature recovery plans.

I find this disappointing. And to explain why, I have to tell a story I’ve been holding off from sharing.

the government is capitulating on many of the proposals that could have significant impact, eg giving in to the vegetable lobby on planning yesterday. so what's the point.

Look, if even wet soggy centrists are fed up of Labour not making any actually difficult decisions that involve tradeoffs, what is the actual point?

17.07.2025 18:56 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Very disappointing. Labour is betraying the builders in favour of the blockers. I consider this a broken manifesto promise.

Labour about to give in to the nimby lobby on planning. Why so useless?

There’s a streak of climate activism that seems to think β€œdecarbonisation” is an act of moral purification, not a thing you do to the power grid.

Yep; I think people are underestimating the extent to which AI might improve the productivity of people who create problems as well as people who solve them.

The bill does not do anywhere near enough, hence why it hasn't been as controversial as one might have expected imo

Quite, but this is all the more so because it is now 2025 and there has been no wider rationalisation / simplification plan
