Fully endorse. My mother saved the owners manual/warranty for every fixture, and has paint chips taped to paper organized by room going back 40 years ago. Her filing cabinets are office-grade metal, and her file folders alphabetical. She is a Force to Be Reckoned With.

If you buy a home, learn from my mistakes and keep a list of:

* the manufacturer and model of all of your faucets / fixtures
* every paint color + manufacturer + glossiness of every paint you do
