Here's how much global emissions would fall if we followed the leaders in clean electricity Global power sector emissions reached 14.6 billion tonnes of CO2 in 2024. But they could be slashed by following best practices.

Honey, AI Capex is Eating the Economy AI capex is so big that it's affecting economic statistics, boosting the economy, and beginning to approach the railroad boom

Wonder how many of the articles are 3rd hand rehashing and extrapolation of this blog paulkedrosky.com/honey-ai-cap...

So Long to Techโ€™s Dream Job

@greyoctagon.bsky.social and I spoke to @kateconger.com about the bottoms-up to top-down culture change at Google, and how executives are using the threat of job loss to force us to work on AI that they intend to use to replace our jobs.

(it's not ready yet! but that future is coming.)

All day, every day. My kids are too young to watch it, but they still watch the music videos on YouTube and its on permanent rotation in the car.

FYI there is a massive bloat problem in the JS ecosystem introduced by ES modules adoption. Most maintainers of popular libraries ship ES module and CommonJS module versions in the same package.

In the repo I've used as an example, over half of the dependencies ship two versions of the same code.

Started this as a side project to learn Rust over a year ago... forgot about it, had other things take priority...

Used the new Kiro IDE (kiro.dev) and Claude Code to finish it off.

Built a thing to analyze your JS/TS project for ES Module vs CommonJS support... written in Rust, so its pretty quick.. Should I release it?

Kintsugi: Decentralized E2EE Key Recovery Kintsugi is a protocol for key recovery, allowing a user to regain access to end-to-end encrypted data after they have lost their device, but still have their (potentially low-entropy) password. Exist...

๐Ÿ“„โœจ New paper! Emilie Ma (kewbi.sh) and I looked at the problem of users of end-to-end encrypted apps recovering their private keys if their device is lost, broken, or stolen. We found a cryptographic approach that is decentralised and resilient against social engineering arxiv.org/abs/2507.21122
