This one fell off quite a bit in the back half for me. But the “secret prequel” thing is kind of a cool idea.

My fear of LASIK long predated this movie. But damn I felt so justified.

The gymnast death was so ridiculous I couldn’t help but laugh. More of this please.

Happy to see Tony Todd back. His first on-screen appearance in the franchise since FD2. (He is the voice of the Devil’s Flight roller coaster in FD2).

More unfortunate 3D-ified death effects in this one, but slightly more refined than the 2009 entry.

FD5 starts with a little more pop than FD4. The bridge collapse is definitely not my favorite opening disaster, but it is a fair sight better than the NASCAR race from the last film.

Escalator death is alright. It’s the one thing in this movie that had stuck in my brain from watching it 15 years ago.

Okay. The “deja vu” thing was moderately amusing.

Oof. CGI snake is rough.

Mykelti Williamson might as well be asleep in this movie and he still can’t help but be the best actor in it.

FD4 time. An obvious loss a budget and ham-handed 3D-ified kills are not doing this one any favors. Also the only entry missing Tony Todd so it automatically takes the bottom slot.

The Naked Gun (2025) is 85 minutes of pure joy. Pam Anderson is wonderful. There’s a sequence near the midpoint of the movie that is transcendent. I was levitating.

Point. Flat hand. Fist.

I stand moderately corrected. Home Depot death was pretty decent.

The diminishing returns are fully setting in. Both sequels so far are struggling to match the utter wackiness of the deaths in the original.

FD3 time. Everybody in this movie is just so miserably unlikable.

And then this kid just gets smushed by a plate glass window.

Death is already running out of ideas.

On to FD2. The log truck vision remains iconic. Probably the best single piece of conceptual design in an entire series built on Rube Goldberg death scenarios.

On the left: the text "GAMES WORKSHOP" rendered in a vibrant red and yellow angular typeface. On the right: the words "GAMES WORKSHOP" rendered in the same bland Gill Sans-esque capitals that every bloody brand uses these days.

What an utterly dogshit rebrand. Take something unique, characterful and distinctive and make it look like every other bland corporate unbrand out there.

The spouse and I are watching through all the Final Destination movies. I made it all the way through the first one thinking Ali Larter's character name was Claire.

Turns it it was Clear. Clear Rivers.

The 2000's were a wild time.

Literally one of my favorite shows of all time. 4 seasons of nothing but bangers.

Trying new things is fucking hard.

"You're not good enough" is really beating me up today.
