Mmm this is why I don't talk of my time with "the safety net" Folks will come out of the woodwork to "advise" on what I "should" be doing as if they know every finer detail of my situation. And when I do not praise them for their "help" they get angry and claim I'm lazy and don't want help.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone from seeking help. Please if you need it, look for it. But those who have never needed it have to understand how little of a safety net there really is in the US. And what does exist is frayed. Snap as it was is a pittance. And soon we won't even have that.

Now I'm looking at having to do this again and now I live nowhere near a food bank or pantry. I know how to forage and make food stretch. I don't have a family I'm trying to keep fed. A little help and planning will keep me going. Others? Oh this is going to be BAD bad.

When I finally got my box nearly an hour later it was too small. But it was better than nothing. Half of it was things I couldn't eat due to allergies. I was clear when I filled out my form. No one read it I guess. Some was expired. I ended up having to give most away. I never bothered again.

The staff were friendly enough for the circumstances. Curt, quick, maybe a little careless. You had to fill out a form to determine your need. If they deemed you didn't need it again bye bye. A few asked about diet restrictions. I filled it out and waited for my box.

First they only gave food once a week. And for only about two hours. You had to get there crazy early and stand in line outdoors about an hour or more before opening. Some had been there since before dawn. If you didn't get in the door before closing tough shit better luck next week.

In 2018 when I first moved away from my abuse situation I had a break in my snap as I swapped from one State to another's system. I had to go to a local food bank to fill the gap. I don't know if what I went through was typical but if it is a lot of people are about to be in deep trouble.

I'm all for people using resources if they have them. But I have to wonder how many who are treating the food banks like an instant fix for a lack of snap have actually ever had to use one before? Genuinely, do you think they work great? Because I can tell you they don't.

The nearest to me is a 4 hour drive away and the section on pantries is completely busted. My area has one of the highest snap enrollments in the state. I'm guessing this is how it's going to go in many places. We are cooked. These programs aren't a net they are there to make the wealthy feel good.

It's about time I showed you folks some progress on this removal. As you can see it is almost gone. One more session maybe two tops. I'm grateful for all the help that's gotten me here. Next session is Nov 1st bumped back on account of almost dying. 🙃

Another issue with snap vanishing is all the "well just go to a food bank" If you have any kind of dietary restrictions that is often not possible. Personal choice on food is mandatory for people with allergies. While food banks may want do right, in practice, food allergies are ignored.

Removing this is a big part of my recovery. It's not just the peace of mind of having the visible tie to my ex's cult gone. It's also about getting rid of the constant reminder of him and all the bs he put me through. He has the same design same location. He can keep it. That chapter is closed.

I decided since my heart DID STOP on Monday maaybe it would be sane to bump this back a week to Nov 1st right? Yeaah probably smart.

To my credit I want the thing gone that bad.

Some of what I dreamed those 20 seconds my heart stopped has come back to me a little. It's weird to say this but I think I've had a genuine near death experience.

Somehow this is still not the worst thing to ever happen to me in a hospital.

This is this Saturday! I just need a little more to make the appointment! Yay!!

One other thing did come of this whole hospital trip. Moving where I currently live has made my heart worse. Straight up asked the discharge DR if moving back to the PNW would help me. And he said without a doubt. "The closer to sea level the better" so any of my west coast mutuals hit me up pls.
