The Senate is a much different beast than the house. How the house operates encourages the caucus to stick together. The nature of the Senate does not.

The dem caucus is like herding cats even when your in the majority. What leverage does a dem minority leader have over members? He's going to threaten to not vote on a bill they like?

I see people calling for Schumer's head (even though he opposed) because of "failed leadership" which I mean fine as long as you recognize no one else would have magically stopped this.

I 100% agree that AI has to be a managed resource, though. It can speed up research (if that's what you are doing) as long as you are capable of verifying it, but it absolutely needs knowledgeable supervision.

The impetus was being thrown into the project unexpectedly and not really knowing what I was doing. But Ive also learned as the process has gone on and so my reliance on AI has lessened as that's happened.

Ive actually gotten some use of AI at work, namely helping me create custom drupal modules.

Does it have its problems? Absolutely. It probably also matters how I use it. But, from experience, Ive never been on the "AI always bad" train.

But I can certainly see how it can be abused.

When Minnesota Democratic State Representative Melissa Hortman was murdered in her home by a gun toting MAGA maniac less than 90 days ago they said nothing. Trump even skipped her funeral and chose to play golf instead. He had the chance to condemn political violent and did not.

My completely unpleasant take is that you cannot make a career of inciting others to violence and normalizing using politics as a motive for violence and expect a good outcome. There has been a decade of sewing. And the reaping is of a bitter bloody harvest. My condolences to the children.
