So if there no meaningful distinction between AI agents and humans, why should agents not have rights? More to the point, if humans are an infinitesimal proportion of all reasoning individuals, why should our rights matter?

Abysmal messaging. First, politicians address sports-related issues all the time. Second, trans people in sports has *already been handled* by leagues and communities. Every major sports body has criteria for trans athletes! Most communities do not give a shit. The problem is bigots ignoring that.
