I'm going to go out on a limb and say the guy that just burned down the EPA, the Board of Education, the CDC, the fight controllers, and the IRS might not care if the government shuts down.

Two of the central fantasies pushed by minority fascist movements are the notions of inevitability and popularity. Both beliefs are needed for a fascist movement to succeed. The majority has to acquiesce. Trump is keenly aware of this. Thus "failing New York Times", "low ratings," etc.

Okay, I've deleted my earlier post. Apparently, this is *not* a pipe. But the fact that I thought it was says a lot about society.

The genius of Jesus Christ Superstar, aside from the great music, locates in how it is not actually about Jesus at all. It is about myth, celebrity, and superstardom. The cruelty of politics and the impossibility of leading a true revolution. Our yearning to make it all make sense.

We need a larger conversation about the emergence of death cults on the right and left of the political spectrum. The right wing desire to speed up climate change, the left wing desire to justify the nihilism and depravity of Hamas, both echoes of Jim Jones.

Cuomo has many problems but is he a fascist?

22.06.2025 16:59 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

That's a fair criticism of Cuomo. But the argument for Mamdani seems to center entirely around the fact that he's young and therefore "different" and "not a regular politician." Other than young, this was Trump's argument in 2015.

Yes. Mamdani has almost zero experience or track record, so the argument is "too many old people, vote for the young guy." And I don't find that an argument to vote for someone.

What exactly am I misunderstanding? This is from the article:

"In a world and a nation that is crying to end the gerontocracy of our leadership, that wants to see a new day, that wants to see a new generation ascend, it is unconscionable to send Andrew Cuomo to Gracie Mansion"
