βAbsolute hellβ: Irishman with valid US work permit held by Ice since September
Seamus Culleton has been in a detention facility in Texas for nearly five months despite having no criminal record
This is absolutely insane. The sort of Kafka-esque nightmare you would find in a Philip K Dick book set far in the dystopian future. A window on America tumbling into autocracy.

Bluey Theme Tune (Orchestral Version)
New orchestral version of the Bluey theme tune is as brilliant as youβd expect - plenty of classical music easter eggs to listen out for. youtu.be/nUS02y00ZjU?...

Would an under-16s social media ban help schools?
The government is considering restricting or banning childrenβs use of social media. How might this impact schools?
Itβs been a busy week for the underβ16s social media debate, with a govt consultation & a Lords vote.
Teachers are one of the best gauges of how students are faring online. They tell me how the darker sides of social media can often spill inside the school gates.

Dickens himself could write in shorthand - so much so that many letters he wrote in his own adapted version of it have been incredibly hard to crack: le.ac.uk/dickens-code. I remember that feeling from reading back my own shorthand on many occasions.

Still enjoying the wonderful story of David Copperfield and got to this hilarious section on shorthand. This isnβt even Teeline heβs discussing but something far more complex - but as any shorthand novice will tell you it certainly is a blur of βdespotic charactersβ.

One stat I found especially shocking was that 76 per cent of respondents saying they think student mental health and wellbeing is worse than it was 10 years ago. Given the last decade it's not surprising but still a bleak assessment of the lives young people are seemingly leading.

I shared this on LinkedIn and it got some nice engagement so worth doing so here - Charles Dickens writing in 1850 and using the same language and concepts as how many modern school leaders talk about the importance of community in schools to engage pupils. He also used em dashes!

I guess itβs a compliment that the top story on BBC Londonβs TV/online output today is a direct lift of a month-old London Centric story? But once again the BBC is consistently the worst news outlet for actually remembering to credit others.
