The best place to see alligators is the Henry Dorley zoo in Omaha. They are more active than any gators I've seen. It's a spectacular zoo with the largest indoor rainforest. You can see the huge fruit bats up close at feeding time in the rainforest.

I would suggest people look at crime rates in Huntsville, AL. Most are less than half the national averages. The most dangerous cities in AL do tend to be more right leaning, but it has more to do with poverty than politics. Huntsville is the largest city in AL with a more educated population.
