No, leftists do not in fact have to hand it to fascists who happen to hate Jews more than they hate Palestinians.

Cold chickpeas or warm? How soft do they need to be? Is there a way to get serious silky smoothness without the massive pain of getting the skins off?

I'm not sure I completely agree with Thomas on this but it's a really interesting argument.

Yet the findings are consistent with those from other contexts. New homes are occupied by those on relatively high incomes, but initiate moving chains that involve households with progressively lower incomes & homes at lower rents. Households generally move to larger homes.

PHA took over its first private-sector apartment building. Tenant reviews are mixed. Some residents say that PHA's purchase of a largely occupied market-rate apartment building in Wynnefield has not gone smoothly.

My story on the first market rate apartment building that PHA purchased with hopes of turning it into a mixed income community. The residents I spoke with say the housing authority is doing a better job than the previous landlord, but most still plan to move out: www.inquirer.com/real-estate/...

L.A.-to-Vegas Brightline West rail completion pushed to 2029 The 218-mile, Brightline West high-speed rail project between Los Angeles and Las Vegas has pushed its completion date from 2028 to late 2029.

It looks like Brightline West will miss their LA28 target and open after the Olympics have long wrapped up - and for nearly double the cost.

To be fair, you can also take the 114, which ~doubles the effective frequency. But it's not a quick or efficient trip.

SEPTA says new trolley signal system will boost safety β€” but add time On Monday, SEPTA will go live with a new signal system on the D1 and D2 trolleys β€” the old Routes 101 and 102. SEPTA says it will increase safety on those routes… but also add up to 15 minutes to trip...

increasing passenger safety by reducing the chance that anyone rides the damn trolleys

seriously though, +15 minutes on a 30 minute ride?

Overlapping but coalitionally related is another other, small but very loud constituency for urban decline: the bohemian class, or highly educated but downwardly economically mobile types. They benefit from low urban rents no matter how bad the situation is overall!

These people are shortsighted, and wrong, and their ability to express these policy ideas is premised on the ability to displace the costs of their lifestyle preferences onto the public and (poorer) urban dwellers in particular. But there are a lot of them!

V. perceptive line in this:
"Many prefer the smaller, less crowded, slower-paced Providence of today, where you can find a parking space downtown on a weekday in front of one of the old 20th-century office buildings."

A fact of US life that there is a very large pro-urban decline constituency.

Providence almost had a subway system 100 years ago. Why it went nowhere Providence drew up plans as far back as 1913, inspired by the success of Boston's historic subway line. Here's why it never went anywhere.

More than a century ago Providence abandoned plans for a 2-line subway system similar to Boston's Green Line.

The decision haunts city and transit experts to this day.
