I'm so tired of this week, and it's only Monday.

I got back to my office after the vote last night and recorded this. There's no way to sugarcoat what happened. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting.

You're a lot closer to needing SNAP benefits than you are to becoming a billionaire. More of us need to remember that.

“Let them go a month without meals. Maybe they will get a job”

First, many SNAP recipients have jobs. They’re just living below the poverty line because of tremendous wealth inequality.

Second, many are disabled and children and can’t work.

Third, no one should starve to death.

Food banks need money if you’ve got it. For everything else, contact them and ask—some can take donated meat by hunters or eggs from backyard flocks, some can’t.

No money for Medicaid or SNAP or museums or schools or sidewalks or gun violence prevention or art or libraries.

Always money for war.

Exactly. People losing food stamps affects all of us. It affects the children who get free lunch at school. It affects those who are already in hardship of making ends meet while the prices of groceries have gone up.

As a historian, I can certify that we are in the bad times. But bad times eventually end.
In the meantime:
• Figure out a small way to help someone
• Figure out a small way to fight back
• Figure out a small place to find joy
• Figure out a small way to grow and thrive

And do it often.

I don't want a relationship with my computer, my appliances, or my phone. I just want them to function without fuss and certainly without opinions or suggestions.

I have living, breathing friends and family for relationships. Tech bros need to try that.
