Just don't use the foglights unless visibility is below 100m.

Oh, wait. Wrong lights. Sorry.

That reminds me - need to get a new headlamp bulb...

12th cello in my Youth Orchestra, back in my first year with them...

7th double bass is as far as I've gone in that department - that was Saint-Saens 3, in Ripon Cathedral, with Harrogate Symphony Orchestra. That was the first time I've been behind the violas while playing bass. Great fun.

New NHTSA crash data, combined with Tesla’s new disclosure of robotaxi mileage, reveals Tesla’s autonomous vehicles are crashing at a rate much higher than human drivers, and that’s with a safety monitor in every car.

Tesla has reported 9 crashes involving its robotaxi fleet in Austin, TX.

Azure Pricing in Interesting Times - Coeo We are currently living in β€œInteresting Times”. While this may be good news for journalists and the 24x7 rolling news cycle, it’s not necessarily good news for those of us who use Azure.

I've written another thing for the corporate blog - www.coeo.com/2026/01/azur...

It's not quite what I originally submitted. You can read that on my personal blog at thelonedba.wordpress.com/2026/01/27/a... and play spot the difference...

YouTube video by Horrible Histories Songs The 4 Georges - Born 2 Rule | Horrible Histories song

I've only just properly worked out "Georges" - the last 23 hours or so my brain has been reading it as the plural of George, and I've been trying to figure out how that Horribly History song "Born to rule" fits in here...

I should be used to this. Android Auto stopped working on the phone several years ago, which made today's schlepping more tedious as I hadn't preloaded enough podcasts for the round trip and couldn't poke the phone when doing *cough* mph on the way home.

In other news, I have had to uninstall two apps as they're no longer supported on my phone - which isn't even ten years old.

@theguardian.com and LinkedIn - shame on you both. OK, I can cope happily without the latter, but to not have the grauniad is a bore. No more khazi crosswords.

over 9 hours driving, over 400 miles driven, over 15 hours out of the house.

I'm tired, broken, and have found another irritation with The Tank - it dares to beep at me if I drive more than 4h15 in one hit. Grr. HOW DARE IT! *ahem*

And I've left my slippers downstairs and don't want to move.

Heel end of a baroque bass bow, showing signs of significant repair - as in, two sets of metal rings grafting what appears to be a different main length & tip end of bow to a much darker heel end of bow.

Getting horrible flashbacks to the last time I was loaned a baroque bow to play with. baroque, baroke, broken... ugh. Hateful thing. It quite spoiled the gig (Thomas Arne, "Alfred" - a rare performance of the full opera).

A readerβ€˜s letter in the times which reads as follows:

Old adversaries
Sir, Your obituary (Jan 19) of Mr Justice Blofeld rightly referred to his fine sense of humour. When he first sat in Winchester a barrister called Richard Bond stood up to open the first case. Mr Justice Blofeld began to stroke the white ermine on the sleeve of his High Court judge's robes as if stroking a cat. He then said with a smile: "We meet at last, Mr Bond."

Is this thing still on? Unexplained absence of a long-time blogger Erm, yeah. It’s been a while. Sorry for being a bit quiet of late – almost all of my work-related blogging energy has been directed at both the official Coeo blog, and our internal wiki…

Refreshing my work-type blog. Well, attempting to explain why it's been so quiet there. Still gets traffic, though.
