One of the interesting aspects of the videotape was the inclusion of a scene showing the mooring of the Dornier DO-X flying boat that had made a transatlantic flight but ran out of gas as it approached Newfoundland in 1932.

I found out from the local community museum at Dildo, Newfoundland that the village organized a gasoline collection that even included motor oil and kerosene from oil lamps. The unlikely potion was enough to get the lumbering flying boat to the next inlet.
