Finally saw the Minecraft movie; it was terrible but I finally got to use my Standard Galactic Alphabet fluency from 30 years ago. @thattomhall.bsky.social taught me well. (Hidden classroom area!)

This was one of the first games I made a clone of. It was a copy of a copy of Chaos. Super fun to play; simple but engaging. I think it has some kind of difficulty ramp-up and CPU enemies.
Spent about 90% of the time making small animated characters in GraphicGale. I was so proud!

Am I the only computer nerd who likes text on screen to be big? I like smooth large letters to read; the only time I reduce the size is if I need to see big blocks of code for some reason. I tend to run all UI stuff as big as possible. Nowadays screen real-estate is so cheap ($/steradian). #48pt

The new RoboCop:RC-UB game is officially a Certified Cat Game!
You get to pet a cat, feed a cat and practice a speech to a cat.

The game starts slow but surprised me with cool vignettes and storytelling. I hope they will push their tech more into interactivity and NPC/world building.

Both my cats went crazy when they saw a bird in the window reflection.
They didn't realize that said bird was sitting right next to them, and I could not get them to turn their head to the actual bird sitting 4 feet away.

Game (Art) idea: 2D game with a hex grid that is not axis aligned in any way. No straight lines, no nice 1:2, 1:3. You get nothing. Just pixel hell.

Genuinely creepy

I remember doing some testing on this (PS4-ish?) and it turns out that on current hardware, using flipbooks can actually cause a lot of texture divergence. We had better luck using the same texture (mips) across all LODs but only reducing vtx count.

Do you mean black tea + milk or something like Indian Chai? I don't like milk tea but I looooove chai - I don't even dilute it with water, I use straight milk (lactaid) with a good Wagh Bakri 🐯🐐.

Oh Jeez I remember these. I feel like there was a single studio(?) who knocked these out. There was also a very fun whack-a-mole like game you played with the numpad that was a small obsession for me. I think it was the same peeps as they used the same icons and vibe.

I would love to see how BT holds up in large crowds. The frequency hopping doesn't seem to really work out too well as soon as multiple radios start to overlap.

hi Graphics BlueSky (both of you!) what is the best/seminal write-up of inverse Z? I see lots of bits and pieces but I'm looking for a "full story" type deal; something I can point to as a solid reference

Wildest thing here is the ampersand in the path. I feel like that is very brave even on current software stacks.

I did some research on sundogs and the path tracing through crystals of different probabilistic orientations and shapes is fascinating; if you ever find a year or so of free time, it would be great to see it appear in a real-time sim
