GenAI is the logical next stage in the modern university's ongoing trend to not teach or have anyone learn anything. The answer to the question of "what's next?" after you've already turned courses into massive (often online) classes taught by low-paid adjuncts with no support.

Maybe we should have tech outlets, like the Verge, actually critiquing and pointing out the absurdity of all this and not acting as though they are an extension of company's pr departments.

On some days it can't even keep track of a fresh chat, it can't do calculations, it can't sort through a chat to extract relevant information, and when it's suppose to refer to source material in a PDF, it doesn't. All because OpenAl trained it for fluency and basically to simulate whatever it can for user satisfaction. I can use it for general chats, philosophical stuff, therapy, but nothing serious. I'm pro Al, but I approach it with skepticism knowing it's undependable (as I do with anything I read). And prompts can be interpreted/executed differently across users' own interaction with their Als so it's not truly scalable. How does the business world / leaders expect staff to adopt Al if it's not consistently dependable? It doesn't even calculate like a calculator. If the internet start claiming 2+2=5, that's what it'll answer with. I'd use it for hobbies and pet projects but I can't imagine using it for anything "mission critical".

But I defintley see it on social media people using Chat to diagnose themselves. Some even saving their lives with AI. I think Elon should let us connect our medical records to Grok. Like I can log in to myChart. That would be pretty cool

Even so, communication and negotiation is key to shared use of streets; there's no true "autonomous vehicle" outside of a closed course. I'm concerned full automation will let robocars be programmed to negotiate increasingly aggressively with little accountability.
