Deep down, we all know the "announcer jinx" is hogwash. But it's still present somewhere in our minds, mostly because we know some people feel strongly about it.
@jgoldstrass.bsky.social and I found receipts of no-hitters where, yes, the announcer "said it"

And that's not all the May 25 home run binge coincidences.

July 27, 2008: Clayton Kershaw gets his first MLN win and catcher Russell Martin throws shaving cream in his face as I interview him.
Today: thrilled to be on the mic as Kershaw makes a rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City against the Isotopes.
Starts at 2:05 pm MT.
For those not familiar with "Crafting the Call," we take dramatic/historic/unusual plays from baseball and analyze the broadcaster's words from an educational standpoint to help us prepare for the next time we're in the moment.
Here is the latest episode:

#Padres top prospect Leo De Vries hit for the "mutant" cycle on Tuesday in a dramatic way, finishing the night with 8 RBIs.
That inspired @jgoldstrass.bsky.social and I to record an episode of "Crafting the Call" to analyze his calls. Fort Wayne's Jaden Taylor joined us to breakdown his calls too.
M'man @josh-suchon.bsky.social is one of the most thoughtful dudes I've had the pleasure of meeting from social media. He's a former MLB Bay Area beat writer and now the voice of the Albuquerque Isotopes (it's a real AAA team!). His writing is always worth a read and he's absolutely worth a follow โ๐พ

Again, if I forgot any, please let me know.
The Browns and Cardinals shared Sportsman's Park in St. Louis from 1920-53. The teams even met in the 1944 World Series, all the games played at the same ballpark.
The only other time every World Series game was played at the same ballpark was the 2020 Covid series.
Don't forget when Dodger Stadium opened in 1962, it was shared by the Dodgers and Angels -- for 4 years. It was the Angels who initially called it "Chavez Ravine"
The expansion Angels played 1 year at the "other Wrigley Field," 4 years at Dodger Stadium, then moved to Anaheim.
1974-75: The Mets allowed the Yankees to share Shea Stadium, while Yankee Stadium was remodeled.
The NFL's Jets still used Shea back then. The Giants played one year at Yale, then a year at Shea.
So yes, two MLB *and* two NFL teams played at Shea in 1975.
The MLB A's and Triple-A River Cats sharing a ballpark in Sacramento is rare, but not unprecedented. Here's a thread with a few examples. Let me know if I forgot any.
1993-94: Nashville's Greer Stadium hosted the Triple-A Sounds (White Sox) and Double-A Xpress (Twins).
It's the Opening Day edition of "Crafting the Call"
Along with @jgoldstrass.bsky.social, we review special moments in Opening Day history featuring Frank Robinson, Tuffy Rhodes, Barry Bonds & the re-birth of the #Giants, the #Rockies first game and Lorenzo Cain.

24 years ago today, a baseball thrown by Randy Johnson and a bird were on a collision course. I was there. But didn't see it. My memories of writing a fowl story.

Blown away by this note within Eric's story:
The 2005-06 โ07 Seconds or Lessโ Suns averaged a league-leading 96.92 possessions per game. They would rank 28th this year.
#Rockies sent RHP Chase Dollander to minor league camp yesterday. But he started a MLB game today. (Spring training rules are hilarious).
If he stays on a 4-day rest, Dollander would start Opening Night for Triple-A Albuquerque at Sacramento (a AAA/MLB ballpark) on Friday night.
I wrote about my selections, along with unique stories about the late George Foreman, my 24 hours with Sparky Lyle and the legendary autograph he signed for me, plus the Angels cell phone clubhouse ban.

I'm starting to change my mind about March and leaning toward Christian Laettner. Only player to ever start four consecutive Final Fours. Some of those games were technically in April, but it's still March Madness.

Thanks Jeff. You can not separate Jackie Robinson's baseball story from race. And likewise you cannot separate his World War 2 service from it. The simple fact is Jackie's refusal to move seats meant he never fought in Europe- something he surely would have done otherwise.
