The Washington Post just killed the Sports section On Wednesday morning, after weeks of rumors, Washington Post executive editor Matt Murray told his staff that the paper's sports section is…

The history of the Washington Capitals was written on Post letterhead.

I've always enjoyed reading Caps beat writers at WaPo, from Tarik El-Bashir when I was a college student through your tenure for the last few years. Thanks for all of your great Caps pieces, and I hope you find a new position soon!

A selection of old (60s/70s) NASA research notes.

A selection of old (60s/70s) NASA research notes.

That time I found a pile of old NASA research documents in a skip and took them home for a lark.

And no3 happened on Saturday night! (into Sunday morning for the East Coasters.) Sadly both games also ended in OTL

I think @sarahjeong.bsky.social said it's because they devalue women's labor and a LOT of this Scary Logistics stuff comes from people who don't understand that basically all of the civic life they enjoy is created with the help of free labor, largely by women.

Tonight and tomorrow night, look for Saturn next to the Moon after sunset.

I want ... Here is the thing. There are many papers. We encourage people to cite multiple papers per instance. Reviewers do not have the bandwidth to check 100+ citations every review.

Are there occasionally mistakes? Sure. But add in AI hallucinated papers?
The system fucking shatters.

Maybe let's not trust the people who need AI in schools in order to not go bankrupt to decide educational policy regarding AI in schools

If you spend money on anything Harry Potter, you are funding this.

If you think it's okay to continue being a fan and talking about it and putting your Hogwarts House in your profile since you already bought the books/movies, Rowling had stated the continued fandom shows you support her bigotry.

People don't really think through how the Nazis actively made it harder for Jews to leave

The idea that all Americans are guaranteed any kind of freedom of movement, including boarding a flight, is quite the presumption at this point.

Three years on, the AI pushers and fetishists who mocked and sneered at people who worried about mass automation, and told people to β€˜learn to code’ etc etc seem to be worried about their particular pet Frankenstein’s monster’s long term survival

(With apologies to OP for adding to the count.) I had one tweet get like 1000 interactions, iirc, and it was the worst experience even though most people agreed with me! Never again. I'm in awe of people who can manage a ton of followers/responses.

@wmata.com we all stood by to (politely! Correctly!) Let passengers disembark and then we were punished for that.

And it's not like another train was right behind. It was 5 min to the next one

@wmata.com the Shady Grove-bound RL train that just left Metro Center wouldn't let us board! Tons of room, people got off and then the conductor closed the door before we could get on!

The point here is to believe people when they tell you who they are. Gavin Newsom hangs out with Republicans because he likes hanging out with Republicans. This isn't 4-D chess. He wants to hang out with Ben Shapiro and Steve Bannon. When he says he agrees with them on things, it's because he does.

ICE raids are not the first time this was made explicit. I think people downplay how much Jim Crow was not just about controlling Black people but it was also about controlling white people. If you thought racism was dumb and acted that way you could end up with a bomb in your home

Please! They’re finding that even though subclade K evades many immune defenses, hospitalizations among children especially are still mostly kids who weren’t vaccinated. theyre finding vaccination still slows community spread and is reducing illness severity. GET VACCINATED.

Same with DOGE β€” it’s so weird when people are Iike β€œgosh it failed to meet its goal of government efficiency” rather than β€œlooks like its real goal was to steal data while breaking federal agencies and ending support for black and brown people abroad”
