Verlinden inspired me as far back as 1978β¦.
Itβs a bit of a clunky descriptionβ¦
If you do the old stretched sprue trick and cut a plug and taper the end, thatβs what I actually had in mind (late night reply)
I have the dissolved putty stuff and itβs good but can require multiple applications and sands differently to the surrounding plastic.
I know youβve already filled the holes, but a neat trick for future hole filing is to use the sprue from the kit and carve plugs for the holes (pointed so neednβt be exact) then cut flush after they dry.
What is good about this method is being the same plastic, it sands in the same way as the kit.
There is another Space Marine on the wayβ¦.teeny tiny head!
Painted over 90 minutes during a @modelsforheroes.bsky.social session last week.
Been listening to BtB for ages, and intermittently to ICHH especially Executive Disorder - enlightening listening as a Brit.
But this was absolutely amazing.
Ohhh Space Wolf!!
Another Warhammer Mini of the Month from 2025.
Really enjoyed painting a Space Marine again, must do more!
Goremonger
A Warhammer 40000 figure.
This one grew on me, but with many details became quite a painting task!
Really pleased with how he came out.
Details!
Goremonger. A mini of the month from Warhammer.
Lots of little details on this guy.
Standing about 35mm tall.
I just saw some of the posts on the other place about thisβ¦.jeez.

Full sculpt, Aves Apoxie Sculpt
Inspired by this photo of Trooper George Knight, Military Medal recipient, Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry.
Heβs finished for now. Need to leave him for a bit and review in a week or so. Very chuffed with how heβs turned out.
If you build it, they will come!
Loved your reactionβ¦good luck with the book, hope all is well
Iβm holding Alpine figures in my hand as reference for my own sculpting. Gold standard.
13.12.2025 21:36 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Getting close to the end now.
I repositioned the head, and added a shirt collar. Lots of details left now to do, and refining parts and sharpening folds.
1/35 sculpted from scratch.
1/35 Scratch built British tanker 1944/45
So this guy progresses nicely. Getting to the point where I need to add details, and Iβll adjust the head angle before sculpting hair and his beret.
Want to refine some folds as well.
Seems the Davis book is listed in the bibliography of the other two!
01.12.2025 15:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0There is a massive overlap of colour uniform illustrations and my modelling habits. Plus comics, which themselves are illustrative!
Chappell and Kevin Lylesβ¦.and Lyles sculpted - once!
1988β¦.wowβ¦.nearly finished uni that year - Horanβs Gandamak diorama on the front of MilMod!
Delivery of second hand books from Oxfam.
Two broad overview classic Osprey books, and an absolute classic nerd tome on British Army uniforms. The German uniform book by Brian L. Davis was the first reference book I ever bought.
My mate Tom worked there before joining me as a geophysicist. He had the biggest mop top in the history of mop tops. Definitely there in 1989. I think the guy who runs Esquires now was there as well.
20.11.2025 20:16 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 06 months on and I have another update on this dude. Still early days, sculpting wise, and trying some slightly different approaches.
So far, Iβm liking how heβs looking.
Seems kind of impossible to think heβs gone. This was such an amazing album and still utterly brilliant.
(Also bought at Bedford Our Price in 1989, but I wasnβt 16)
RIP Mani
Thatβs almost certainly me, thereβs nothing rancid about my family. A touch pickled at times, but what do you expect!

Some great work well rewarded!
Nice!
I have this guy, and other SW figuresβ¦youβve tempted me!
Iβm slowly working my way through the Warhammer Miniature of the Month freebies Iβve acquired.
This is the Aeldari Fire Dragon.
These are great for trying out colours youβd not usually use if doing historical subjects.
Did a good bit of research, and itβs satisfying when all the colours and beadwork are actual real world!
Thanks so much.
Thanks! I tried to keep it simple, but I always enjoy groundwork.
What I was really proud of, thatβs not visible in these photos, is the base itself.
If stalled on the project until I found this base!
Iβm back on here again, and need to post more stuff. Which is true everywhere!
Little Wing, Jicarilla Apache. 1/12 scale.
I have just returned and seen this! I have the book but no signature in mine! Great find!
30.10.2025 17:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have the 2 British head sets.
Without a doubt the best out there, as good as the early Hornet sets.
The helmeted heads are excellent and features the helmet liners on the head and the helmets are separate.
Lots of character on all the heads.
They are remarkable creatures and that is such a beautiful photo!
From my experience they have a ludicrously high pain threshold.
So pleased sheβs thriving
