Your mileage may vary, Shakey, but it's no secret the best examples of modern English cuisine are foreign dishes with the edges filed off for local palates, and i can only speak to what i've observed. The best native meal Britain has to offer in my opinion is Scottish. Haggis fucks severely.

Older Brits are incredibly novelty averse, and this goes up and down the class stratus, though is obvs worse the higher up you go. They also don't habitually eat strongly flavoured food, and find it gross as a result. Anything more challenging than salt or ketchup is considered strong.

Going to get controversial here for a minute - Been in the UK for nearly a bakers' dozen years now and i can tell you....Fish and chips is not all that. Merely ok. if you want fried fish or fried potatoes there are better versions elsewhere.
